Alice laughed: "There's no use trying," she said; "one can't believe impossible things." "I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was younger, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." ~ Lewis Carroll from Alice in Wonderland
To this, I say YAY! Comic Con staying in San Diego at least through 2015

Re: This makes me think of Rachel for some reason.
Yeah, that's a pretty accurate depiction of what's usually going on in my head when I watch someone else on the computer (especially if I'm observing a usability test - ohhh, the pain!)
Along with this caption: These men are quaffing champagne for Mysterious Reasons. What mischief are they planning? I daren't tell
Make me very very curious.
(In case you have no idea: that is Sir Terry Prachett and Niel Gaiman. The last time they did something, it was a long time ago and it was awesome, with extra awesomesauce on top. Good Omens is one of my favorite books of all time.)
And this is why I love QI. It's nerdy and funny at the same time:
More reasons to love Molly (and I totally agree with her)
I also think that there should be more Stephen Fry in the world (if you do not know who Stephen Fry is, Youtube is your friend. He is the awesome. Period. (No, seriously, go look up "QI" on Youtube and enjoy for a couple hours. It's a favorite of mine.) Anyway, back to Molly:
This makes me think of Rachel for some reason.
Perhaps it is the "poker face" (one sec while we wait for her to make a Lady Gaga comment.... i'm sure she made it now. moving on.) because she would totally try and have a poker face and wait it out, whereas I would have grabbed the mouse on step 1 and moved the person over and done it myself.

Happy Last day of summer
I keep wondering why people say that yesterday was the last day of summer. It's actually today. The Autumnal Equinox is on Thursday, September 23, 2010.
Google/yahoo is your friend, people.

re: Venn diagram: Web Design & Development
I am decidedly in the blue/green area: usability skinning themes HTML CSS
Also, while not strictly development and design, there's a circle of it's own which is project and product management and management of the web team itself, which I do a lot of (artist and programmer (and upper management) wrangling). <-- did you see my inception-style nested parens???
Also of note to people who may not understand web work: each of those different colors (each new overlap) is a TOTALLY separate job. Each requires a different set of skills (although some people may do more than one of those jobs by themselves), and in an ideal work environment, each of those would have AT LEAST one person doing only that job.
Lots of people think I do all of that. No frakkin' way.

Question for Noelle: where are you in this diagram? :-P

Please don't support the Circus
I'm going to spare you a diatribe here. I found this on a blog that I frequent and you can go read what she has to say there and watch videos of actual former trainers from Ringling brothers talking about abuse that they themselves inflicted on their animals. [read/watch it]
Some of the videos are kind of borderline, but a couple of them had me in tears just now.
I'm not going to post them straight out here because I know that some of you are really, really sensitive and I'd rather it be your choice to go look.
Just please, please don't go to the circus.
Insaine Cakes that rule! (In Atlanta!)
So, first I saw this:
Which was awesome, so I went to their website and then was lead to their Flickr Gallery of AWESOME cakes. you really should spend a few minutes and just go take a look. They make ace of cakes look like amateur hour.
Check out the pumpkin cake:
Incredible. Amber should get a cake a day from them!
The Tourist Trailer
Obviously, this is the trifecta of awesome for me.
This event was much looked-forward to and super fun yesterday. There were Alice poetry readings, a caucus race (potato spoon races), Alice trivia, and Flamingo Mallet Croquet. [check them out]

This is pretty funny: Chad Vader’s 75 Costumes at Dragon Con
This is a wonderful video by Chad Vader, featuring 75 costumes from DragonCon. 76, actually, if you count Chad’s Darth Vader costume. He runs through all the costumes in 2 minutes.
A Perfect Circle is not only not defunct, but they will be coming 'round soon. Every show is a full album performed. YAAAAAAAY! That is some crazy happy news!

Geek and Gamer Girls Song
This is so rad. I want to learn the words and do it at karaoke... even though I will absolutely, under no circumstances, do karaoke. (Trust me, this is for the greatest good.) As a geek girl, I approve!
DragonCon! YAY more costumed nerds! If yould like to watch a 4 minute thingy on the show, feel free.
I should be posting pictures and whatever all weekend, if you are interested.

Carnivorous Plants Expo and More
Noelle, Wendy, and I went to the SF Conservatory of Flowers on Saturday to see the carnivorous plants exposition, but found there was a lot more to see there as well.
