Back. Undead, and Engaged.
I did not die of my kidney infection, although I sure thought I was going to. Turns out those little bags that you see hanging near people's heads in the hospital scenes in movies actually pump stuff straight into your bloodstream. If you get antibiotics in a little bag and hook that in, it makes you not die. I opted to do that, after nearly passing out (and I say this not in the "Noelle way" but in the "they had to call a code nurse because I nearly hit the ground and then threw up" way).

It was really bad. 102.2 fever and at at no point did I care that everyone could see straight up my gown in the ER. However, I am better now.

Oh, BTW, if you want to get to the head of the line in your docs office, just start puking really violently in the main waiting room. It launches you straight to the front of the line. Does not work in the ER though, I am afraid.

Also, in other news, I went to Trinidad this weekend with Chris, which was mostly about me sitting in the car a lot and looking at trees, which was relaxing while I continued to heal. I was asked to repel onto a beach so he could take pics of the sunset, so I did, and while I was looking through the camera at one of the shots, Chris manages to whip out my ring and then asked me to marry him. Obviously, I accepted and am now sporting a shiny rock, and lots of little shiny rocks. We then had a celebratory beer and then promptly passed out. I have pics - will post when I have time.

Oh, Orick is a scary town with people that might eat you. If you ever pass through, lock your doors and keep driving, no matter how badly you need gas.

Re: Where's Noelle?
Egad! Hope you're starting to feel better, Noelle! Yay, Antibiotics!

Where's Noelle?
In case you were wondering why you haven't seen Noelle around, she's sick. She appeared to have food poisoning last week, but was feeling better over the weekend. Then on Monday evening she started feeling bad again, so she stayed home yesterday. She had a fever in the afternoon, so we went over to her doctor who sent her to the ER (the building next door) because it turns out she has a kidney infection. I guess it's not too serious, since we waited about three hours in the ER before getting to a doctor. :-p Anyway, they gave her some fluids and antibiotics and sent her home late last night. She's in bed, resting now. Just wanted to let folks know what the deal was.

Asked about 2/3 of US opposition to war, Cheney says, 'So?'
Wow: Informed during a Good Morning America interview broadcast Wednesday that two-thirds of Americans now think the war was not worth fighting, Cheney replied: "So?" "So you don't care what the American people think?" ABC's interviewer asked. He added: "I think we cannot be blown off course." [check it]

Happy St.Patrick's Day people!!!
St. Patrick is believed to have driven the snakes from Ireland. Once a pagan himself, St. Patrick is one of Christianity's most widely known figures.

The modern secular holiday is based on the original Christian saint's feast day also thought to be the date of the saint's death. In 1737, Irish immigrants to the United States began observing the holiday publicly in Boston and held the first St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York City in 1766.

Today, the tradition continues with people from all walks and heritages by wearing green, eating Irish food, and attending parades. St. Patrick's Day is bursting with folklore; from the shamrock to the leprechaun and to pinching those that are not wearing green. [more]

More Charles Manson-related bodies?
Forensic investigators traveled to one of the Manson Family hide-outs in Death Valley National Park to explore old rumors of other victims that may have been buried there in the late 1960s. According to the new research described in an Associated Press article, there "are two likely clandestine grave sites at Barker Ranch, and one additional site that merits further investigation." re: Not quite dead yet...
I did indeed make an appearance at work today, and it wasn't that bad, so I would say that I am mostly better. My nose is stuffy and my voice sounds like crap from a sore throat but I appear to be through the worst of it so YAY!!!

Oh, and I also know that I am better because I decided to plan a party yesterday. It occurred to me that we had totally missed Ham Slam on the event calender and taht needed to be remedied.

re: Not quite dead yet...
So yeah, I am hoping beyond hope that i will be able to go back to work tomorrow after a full week away from it. I suffered hard through the weekend with massive sinus pain despite my wondrously strong decongestants. I also managed somehow to contract the horrible grossness that is pinkeye.

ew.

Anyway, I woke up this morning with a cough! A cough!!! I have never every been this excited to be coughing. It's not a bad one, yet, either. It means i feel better - all that crap is draining out of my head. I am no longer begging Chris to get me pliers so that I can pull the teeth out of my head to relieve the sinus pressure.

I stayed home today again as I was still kind of weak, and the pinkeye was still draining to some extent, but I am hoping to make an appearance at work and possibly even Cabaret on Thursday, if i can find my tickets...

Noelle: current status = downgraded to contaminant

oh, and the coolest thing about pinkeye: I have this ring around my iris of white and then another thin ring of red from it being horribly bloodshot - I think it looks EEEEEE - vil!

Major photo update
Well, the one thing this sickness did give me, was the ability to go through today and upload some LONG overdue photos. Mostly, I am behind as far as 2006, so I went back and filled in all of that. between my birthday and St. Martin, I lost all my photos due to a really stupid accident where I washed my camera... but I have stuff after that and am adding as I go along.

So far, New Sets include:
Amber's Bachelorette Party (at least the ones I am allowed to show)
Carl's Birthday '06
Carl's Birthday '07
Chris's Birthday '06
Comic Con '06
August '06 Tahoe Trip (aka "the one that Alex came on")
Christmas Party '06
Cheralyn's Caroling Party '06
New Year's '06
My Birthday '07
Fourth of July '07
July Trip to Tahoe '07
Wendy's Birthday '07

An they can all be found, in chronological order (so, near the bottom) on my flickr account. (Also see the sidebar item marked "Noelle's Photos" over there ---> anytime you want.)

Russian 'bird-boy' discovered in aviary
Authorities say the neglected child was found living in a tiny two-room apartment surrounded by cages containing dozens of birds, bird feed and droppings.

The so-called “bird-boy” does not understand any human language and communicates instead by chirping and flapping his arms, Russian newspaper Pravda has reported.

Social worker Galina Volskaya, who was involved is rescuing the child from his home in Kirovsky, Volgograd, said he was treated like another pet by his 31-year-old mother who never spoke to him. [more]

New Year's Pics up
Just a few, since we were mostly too drunk to take pics. I also went against my on hatred of flash, to park a flicker badge over there --> which will display whatever the most current set of pictures are. I swear, i am going to try and get through the last year and a half of pics sometime here...

Don't worry, nothing incriminating, except maybe me catching Spencer with his pants down....
