First post sent from my iPhone
Dude! This thing Is pretty damned cool and I was the one that said I would't get one until they upped the storage space on it.

So far it's better than I expected. There's issues of course, but the keyboard really does just fix everything for you as you go and most things I find annoying are tradeoffs for the things on my old phone tjat I thought were annoying.

I wonder if I will miss my old phone...

Anyway, this is me, reporting in that all the work that wendy has put into this toy is totally worth it and this thing seems worthwhile after all :-)

Sent from my iPhone

New toy(s)
So yeah, I had about the easiest iPhone experience ever. I got to the mall, where Mike had been waiting in line since 10 am, at 5:35. By 6:20, I had a phone. And it was free :-) (thanks Daddy Warbucks :-) )

Here it is:

Re: Saturday's Full Moon Offers Strange Illusion
Hmm, I didn't see anywhere in that article what time the moon will rise on Sat. Guess cause it's dependent on your location. So I looked it up for San Jose:
        Moonrise 9:14 p.m.
Moonset 6:40 a.m. on following day

Saturday's Full Moon Offers Strange Illusion
This weekend's full moon hangs lower in the sky than any other full moon of 2007, according to NASA, and it's a good time to be fooled.

When low on the horizon, the Moon can appear to be larger than when it's higher in the sky. It's all an illusion, scientists say, and it does not involve any enlarging effects of the atmosphere. Rather, it's all in your mind.

Here's how it works:

Our brains think things on the horizon are farther away than stuff overhead, because we're used to seeing overhead clouds that are close compared to those on the horizon. In the mind's eye, the sky is a flattened dome.

With this dome as a reference, we expect something on the horizon (such as the moon) to be father, and because it is actually no farther than when overhead, our brains goof and imagine that it is larger.

Skeptical? You can test this from home. [more]

Michael Bay Does Not Destroy My Childhood - Transformers Review
...Then it happened. The wide shot. The slo-mo. The full-on robot-a-robot fist-a-cuffs (heh, that’s allota dashes). Suddenly all bets were off. Unabashed visuals so incredibly pulled-off that I nearly welled up with tears instantly erasing every concern that I had carried with me since I had learned Michael ‘Bad Boys’ Bay was adapting my beloved Transformers. Think back for a moment to when you first saw the Matrix’s bullet-time. You just knew immediately that the world of special effects had been forever changed. Well, Transformers grabs that same SFX bar lofted up by the Wachowskis Brothers and launches it into the freakin’ ionosphere... [more]

Why New Music Doesn't Sound As Good As It Did
Never mind that today's factory-produced starlets and mini-clones just don't have the practiced chops of the supergroups of yesteryear, pop in a new CD and you might notice that the quality of the music itself—maybe something as simple as a snare drum hit—just doesn't sound as crisp and as clear as you're used to. Why is that? [more]

Why Your Electricity Meter Sucks
My electricity meter is about fifty years old, and it's likely that yours is too. Even if it's new, it probably uses the same ancient technology as mine. Those meters were created for a world with cheap, abundant power. Well, the world has changed...so why hasn't my electricity meter?

It turns out, that if all United States power companies were to upgrade to new electricity meters today, America would save roughly $35 billion in energy costs over twenty years and it would eliminate the need for around 625 power plants. How could something as simple as an electricity meter suck so bad? [more]

Horse Show Reminder
Reminder that Erin's horse show is going on this weekend. Looks like she'll be jumping around 11am-12pm and also around 4pm on Saturday. They haven't released the schedule for Saturday yet so those are guesstimates. I'll post again once I get final times.
I'll be there all day Sat and Sun so feel free to call me on my cell and let me know if u're coming!
Admission is free!

Thanks

Florida man's headache mystery solved by a bullet
MIAMI (Reuters) - A Florida man awoke with a severe headache and asked his wife to drive him to a hospital, where doctors found a bullet lodged behind his right ear, sheriff's deputies said.

"The nurse looked at him and said, 'It appears that you've been shot,'" the Fort Pierce Tribune quoted St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara as saying. "And he said, 'No way.'"

The wife, April Moylan, fled the emergency room when the bullet was discovered but later told deputies she had accidentally shot her husband as he slept early on Tuesday. [more]

iPhone review: The iPhone Matches Most of Its Hype

Sounds spiffy. However this sort of taqlk makes me wonder if I should wait:

Is where Alex is at for the week. On Business. Bastard.

"So Noelle, How do you like your new job?"
I keep getting asked this question, which I think is really funny. :-)

The answer: I have no idea, I have only been here for 2 weeks.

I get what the sentiment of the question is, but I have learned from 2 past jobs not to even consider your first 3 months at all when figuring out what your job is like. What ever those 3 months are like, your job is not like that.

What I *do* know:
I like the people.
It's going to be *hard work*.
I like being part of something that has the potential to be really cool.
I am *REALLY* tired all the time.
I feel like I have to choose between my life and my work, and we all know how that goes with me.
I don't understand how airlines work. But I will.
Being able to go to Japan for the weekend sounds really cool.
It's scary to go from knowing everything about what you are doing to knowing nothing. But it's also kind of liberating.
Burlingame is a cool town.
My commute sucks.
There's an ergonomic disconnect in my truck somewhere between the right armrest and the steering wheel that makes my wrists hurt.
Did I mention that I am really tired all the time? And I haven't even gotten started having a workload yet.
Alex is annoyingly smart.

Now the questions I can answer:
Do I regret leaving Shaklee? Not for a moment.
Do I think this is going to work out? Yes, absolutely.
Do I think I will be happy here? Depends on if I can find a balance that involves me being able to have a life, sleep, and pull my weight here. I need to find my stride.
What do I miss the most about Shaklee? The people.
What do I miss most logistically about Shaklee? Going home for lunch. You have no idea how much that would recharge me.

So hopefully that gives you all the status update that you wanted. I know it sounds like a mixed bag. It is. I gave up a lot to be here, and I added a bunch of logistical crap to my life as well. Right now, I feel the pain of all that. I am just waiting for the lightbulb to go on, and me to hit my stride so that the payoff happens. That just may take a while.

Squirrel goes on rampage, injures 3
BERLIN (Reuters) - An aggressive squirrel attacked and injured three people in a German town before a 72-year-old pensioner dispatched the rampaging animal with his crutch.

The squirrel first ran into a house in the southern town of Passau, leapt from behind on a 70-year-old woman, and sank its teeth into her hand, a local police spokesman said Thursday.

With the squirrel still hanging from her hand, the woman ran onto the street in panic, where she managed to shake it off.

The animal then entered a building site and jumped on a construction worker, injuring him on the hand and arm, before he managed to fight it off with a measuring pole.

"After that, the squirrel went into the 72-year-old man's garden and massively attacked him on the arms, hand and thigh," the spokesman said. "Then he killed it with his crutch."

The spokesman said experts thought the attack may have been linked to the mating season or because the squirrel was ill.

See! Even the squirrels are fu&#ing crazy in Germany!!!

Missing Bin Lid
Vaguely, in the cobweb infested corners of my mind, I think that I may have mentioned that I thought I found a random lid in the garage at one point.

That being said.... *if* that is true, and *if* I was not a retard and did something stupid with it, it's in the garage. Which means it may never return. The garage is sort of like the deep, deep, dark, dark, deepdark, deepdark pit at the moment.

But(!) I will see if I can bust out the airport grade x-ray scanner and see if I can locate it in there.
