Re: Deja Vu
Did they borrow your copy of the Christmas Special, too? ;-)

I guess a bootleg DVD of the pre-Special-Edition Original Trilogy, while more realistic, wouldn't be as funny... (yeah yeah, I know, Lucas just put them on DVD. Let me have my rant anyway...)

Mike,

That link works just fine with the latest Safari nightly build, so you may want to mention that in your bug report.

Deja Vu
Why does this image (from the new Weird Al video) remind me of the barbeque last weekend? ;-)

"Only question I ever thought was hard was, 'Do I like Kirk or do I like Picard?'"

OUt of my mind (and town)
So I'll be out of town for 9 days. (not that anyone will notice, you all seem to be pretty ood at keeping this up on your own).

Tomorrow, I get in the convertible with Chris and we head to Laguna Beach for an evening to hook up with Coalee and Sean, and then to see April on Sunday Morning. Sunday night, it's Massive Attack at the Hollywood Bowl with Kyle. Then up 395 for a few days, and back to the bay area for CP's birthday party on Thursday night.

Friday, I will get in a plane with my girls, and we'll head to Vegas for an undisclosed amount of fun. (a) It's a bachelorette party, so you all get no info whatsoever and (b) Amber doesn't know what we'll be doing so I don't wanna ruin it for her). I will sneak you a bit of info and say that there may be people licking eachother, whips, leather, oil, and some serious ass shaking involved. I plan on not being able to remember enough to report back afterwards either.

Anyway, entertain yourselves. If I get internet access, I'll check in. Have a great week and I am sure that I will see a bunch of you throught it.

How Do You Know It's Been Too Long Since You Were On Tour
Fluke is a group who records electronica, and is sometimes compared to The Crystal Method and Chemical Brothers.

According to Google, however, a "fluke concert" is a ukulele.

How embarassing.

Disney green lights JUNGLE CRUISE
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Walt Disney Pictures has given the green light to a movie project based on a Disneyland ride called JUNGLE CRUISE.

The ride sees parkgoers travel the jungle river guided by a riverboat skipper, encountering such wild creatures as pirhanas and gorillas during their tour. The ride was one of the 22 original attractions when the park opened in 1955.

Al Gough and Miles Millar are currently in negotiations to write the script for the film. [via]

Tolkien's THE CHILDREN OF HURIN to be published
According to the Associated Press, J.R.R. Tolkien's unfinished tale THE CHILDREN OF HURIN is set to be published next spring.

The book, which has been published previously only in excerpts, has been edited by Tolkien's son into a completed story. Christopher Tolkien has spent the past 30 years working on the book, an epic tale his father began in 1918 and later abandoned. The tale includes the elves and dwarves made famous in other Tolkien works.

"It has seemed to me for a long time that there was a good case for presenting my father's long version of the legend of the 'Children of Hurin' as an independent work, between its own covers," Christopher Tolkien said.

The new book will be published by Houghton Mifflin in the United States and HarperCollins in England. The real question now becomes, will MGM and/or New Line go after the big screen rights to the film? [via]

Looks like Lamborghini isn't immune
"Our obsession with burning cars started when we came across pictures of the Ferrari F430 and 599GTB cars going up in flames. Now we’re glad to bring you a video of a Gallardo on fire in downtown San Jose, courtesy of our friends over at Jalopnik. We don’t have any details about why it’s flaming, but are sure you’ll enjoy the videos nonetheless."

Re: Ouch!
Weird it seemed to be working fine earlier on FireFox. Anyway, I changed the link. Thanks.

Re: Ouch!
Oh crap ... does that suck.

So much so that it crashed my browser! Seriously. That link crashes Safari every time. At least it doesn't catch fire.

Here's the link to the story at MotorAuthority.com for people running FireFox or Windows IE.

p.s. Yup, I already filed the bug report.

Ouch!
Yes, that's a brand new Ferrari.

In case you didn't know...
Neil will be here shortly...

FRAGILE THINGS is Neil Gaiman's second collection of short fiction, and it contains approximately 20 previously published pieces -- stories, verse, and an American Gods novella -- plus one new piece written especially for this volume. Guaranteed to dazzle your senses, haunt your imagination, and move you to the depths of your soul, FRAGILE THINGS is a gift of wonder and delight from one of the most unique literary artists of our day.

This event is free and open to the public. The doors will open at 7:15 p.m. Between 6:15 and 7:15 there will be a reception outside on the Plaza with light refreshments, tea and coffee. We will have a Welcome Table at the reception for the following:

* You will be issued a number in the form of a raffle ticket. We will be calling blocks of numbers at a time for Neil's book-signing after the event.
* You will be offered a "seat saver" which will hold a chair for you inside (first come-first serve.)
* Neil will sign as many copies of the book as are purchased at Kepler's, plus two additional items for each person.

We will be showcasing several graphic novels that night, and the authors and illustrators will be signing their books outside during the reception.

re: Talk Like A Pirate Day!
Dude. You are hard core.

I may even have your skis with me when I show up. ;-)

Oh. And I looked for your hat pattern and didn't find anything so far. I'll keep the search on for a while though.

AaaarrrrrRRRR.

Here is a helpful instructional video on how to speak Pirate.

The Covenant - worst reviewed movie ever?
This was thoughtfully pointed out by Steve. [click]

Joke from Liz
A nurse walks into a bank. Preparing to write a check, she pulls a rectal thermometer out of her purse and tries to write with it.

She looks at the flabbergasted teller and without missing a beat says, "Well, that's great...that's really great...some asshole's got my pen."

re: Talk Like A Pirate Day!
And here's the official site! [Arrrrrrrr!]

re: Breakfast
Yeah. Momma cow insists on calling it Jack's. For YEARS.

See you there?

Talk Like A Pirate Day!
Ahoy! Lest we not forget the truly important, I hereby and forthwith reminds ye all that it be International Talk Like A Pirate Day, and if ye knows what's good fer ye all this talk of makin garments from beer boxes and plannin yer meals 6 days in advance will cease in favor of some garbled barely intelligible grunts and slurs.

Interested in knowing what the deal is the numbers on LOST?
Well, Cinscape has the down and dirty.

There's a uTube Viral campaign video up about it.

There's also some crazy marketing websites from the perspective of people trying to uncover stuff aboutthe parent company of the dharma initiative.

Season 3 is much anticipated...

Sometimes there's good stuff about being sick - like that I can sit around and find all of this stuff....

Down with the sickness
OK, so I am still (!!) friggn sick. I have lost 15-18 lbs in the last week and a half and I have had a fever the whole time. I'm weak and sad and sore... not normal.

So, I went to the doc this morning. I have some infection in my intestines and am now on antibiotics. they aen;t sure what is wrong with me, but this shoudl help. We'll see.

Home today, wallowing, if anyone needs me.

re: I'll go bovine on your ass...
Thanks cow, I needed that.

BTW, Chris and I will be in Laguna beach on the 23rd (saturday), if you are available, I'd love to see you. I'll be giving him the extensive (30 minute) tour of MV oo, so we could swing by, or you could come have some taco loco with us if you are up for a trip to the LB.

LMK.

Brent Spiner to old for STAR TREK XI
According to ComingSoon.net, Brent 'Data' Spiner has ruled out any possible return to the franchise.

"I don't think I should play Data anymore," said Spiner. "I think I'm too old to play him anymore to be honest. I think it would look stupid putting that make-up on me at this point. There certain characters that I think work in a youthful way and I think I really skated along the edge in the last couple movies as it was.

Spiner continued to say, "Having said that, you'll see the movie now and there I'll be in all the make-up… then you'll know I got a very sweet deal."

J.J. Abrams STAR TREK XI is aiming for a 2008 release. [via]

To my superiors...

PLease make this stop soon. I need to not think about work 24 hours a day...

OK, this may be borderline blasphemy, but this picture instantly made me think: did the containment unit fail? I'm just waiting for Mr. Stay Puft.
