News Update
So a little news...
I found a place. I put the deposit down. I am moving.
It will be probably the day after Thanksgiving, and I will be out of the current location by the end of the month.
I am having mixed emotions about this. It'll be WONDERFUL to live 10 mins from owrk, but it will SUCK to move 35 mins away from so many good friends after living 2 minutes from them for so long. It will save me some money, which will be good. It has one less bathroom and no washer/dryer in the unit, which sucks. It is a block from dowtow Pleasanton, which is so absolutley adorable. It is also 10 mins from a Bart station (across the street from work) and I can park at work so I won't have to pay lame ass parking fees to go to the city. I still have 2 bedrooms, so I will have space for people to sleep over when they do come to visit.
I do love my place now, but this commute is killing me emotionally. I am so sad to move, but really people, it's not that far, and as I have done it (plus some) every day for the last 11 months, so I will move and hope that people will come visit me so I won't feel all alone up there.
I'll have Christmas potluck so people can come see and enjoy with me and possibly a housewarming event at some point to so I can accrue lots of plants :-)
Ok, that's my news.
Now I need boxes. If you can hook me up, shoot me an email.
More news
Oh, BTW, for those of you that don't know (in my best Homestar Runner Voice):
I'm going to Hawaii!!
*AND!* Carl, Esther, Amber and Morgan are coming with!
I leave Saturday and come back the Saturday after that so I'll be out of commission for a week. I will have my cell, but only use that if you are bleeding to death in the forest and only have 1/2 a bar left and I was on your speed dial and can get you help, or if you need me to talk you through diffusing a bomb. Otherwise, I am on the beach, drunk, possibly passed out and getting a really bad sunburn.
Wanna be totally jealous?
This is where my mom's condo is, and therefore, where we are staying... for free.
Anyway, I hope that you all have a great week next week, and I will have at least 1 drink for each of my friends who is not with me. OK, so like 60 drinks in 7 days... that's totally do-able... ;-)

Today
... was completely nuts.
I got to work, did not much for a couple hours and then went with the whole marketing Services Department to bowling 50's style. It was cool. I suck at bowling, but it's fun. It does tend to make my hands and wrist hurt way more than I think is ok though.
I went from there to get a check for a deposit.
Yep. That's right. I found a place. It's a lot like my apartment now, but one less bathroom [:-)]. It's like 1/2 a block from down town Pleasanton, which is at least as cute, if not way cooler, than any small cute town we have here in the valley. They have farmers markets on Saturdays and Street fairs on Wednesday nights. It's 5 minutes from my work, the gym, and is across the street from the police station for safety.
Anyway, I put my deposit down, which totally freaked me out. I got cold feet and had a panic attack in the car over whether I am making the right decision or not. To top things off, all of my family is in Italy right now so I didn't have any of them to talk to... *sigh*
So, I guess I am doing it. I talked to Esther for almost an hour and I was made to feel much better about the situation - whew. I guess I like the features of this place, I will just miss being near you all and I am comfortable here so the uncertainty made me a little sad. I seem to be better now - stay tuned.
So then, I came home and cleaned up a bit and then Zak and Carl showed up. We had some grub and then met up with Morgan's crew to see DOOM. Like any of you couldn't tell, but STAY AWAY. BAD MOVIE. The first person shooter sequence is still totally rad, but the ret of the movie is totally dull. Since Morgan just LOVES bad movies, I am sure that this made his evening.
Now I am back, trying to empty my Tivo with Zak so that I have room for Stuff while I am in Hawaii. The rest of the weekend will consist of lots of car care, cleaning, art projects for school, and, of course, Pumpkin Party and preparations. Sunday at 2:00 for any of you interested:

Have a lovely evening, I'm off to bed shortly.

Most places, even if the ticket specifically say "No Cameras" will let you in with them now because it's not fair to people who don't have camera phones that those guys are let in. Smash and Grab
So I am at home today, working. Yesterday, I came home and glanced over at the odd shadow on the volvo and thought "heh, that shadow looks like someone broke into my car...." Well, I walked over to it and someone had.
The window was smashed.
The front door lock (and the only one that can actually lock all of the doors at once) was completley hollowed out.
My brand new stereo was torn out.
The dash has some peices that are ripped up.
I don't really know what to say about it except things that are pretty obvious. Carl, Morgan, and Fus have all had stuff happen to their cars in the past few weeks, and their house was broken into recently too. Some guy downstairs who I talked to when I was investigating the scene said taht his car had gotten broken into last week as well on the street outside my complex.
Maybe I should call the news so they can stop spending 1/2 hour reporting on the weather (which is absolutley non-eventful) and start reporting on the "Bay Area Crime Spree 2K5"...
Yeah.

A SUPERNATURAL Number
Cinescape visitor Rick dropped us a line about a recent episode of SUPERNATURAL. He had this to say about a number he called...
I just got a chance to watch this weeks episode of Supernatural and I caught something interesting. Near the end of the episode, the older brother asks the man who contacted them about the airplane crashing demon, how had he gotten his (Dean's) number. The man told him that he had gotten it from Dean's father's voice mail message. Dean confides to his younger brother that he's listened to his Dad's phone message since he disappeared and his phone number isn't on the message. He tries his Dad's number again and sure enough, Dad instructs callers to contact his son at 866-907-3235.
I immediately realized the number was missing the usual Hollywood prefix of 555. I tried it. When I did actor Jensen Ackles answered, "This is Dean Winchester. If this is an emergency, leave a message. If you are calling about 11-2-83, page me with your coordinates...beep!" I'm guessing that's the date of the Winchester brother's mother's horrific death I do note that 11-8-05, the 23rd anniversary of that date, falls on a Tuesday this year. I wonder if Dad or Dean have a team of paranormal investigators working with them. Hence the request for coordinates. Still, it was a pretty cool little tie in they did for the fans.

This interview is really cool: Neil Gaiman talks about Anansi Boys
It talks about a lot of things that normally don't seem to come up. Like:
Gaiman gave people all the iconic components, though. His ubiquitous shades, black tee, fountain pen and biker jacket are almost comic strip shorthand now, the Gaiman you keep in your head. “It sort of evolved,” he laughs. “It wasn’t ever a matter of me sitting there like Peter Parker and saying ‘I shall be a spider!’ I like leather jackets. I had a load of grey leather jackets for years and then some brown ones, and then one day I bought a black one and thought, ‘Oh, I like this. This is right.’ I picked up my first black T-shirt in 1987. I was on my way to World Con and realised I hadn’t bought enough clothes, so I stopped off at some weird little remainder store and bought a very odd black T-shirt with shapes on it where some words had fallen off.”
And the dark glasses? Pure rock god accessorising, surely? “I have eyes that have absolutely huge pupils that don’t contract fast enough, which means that when I go and visit new dentists and doctors they go rummaging through my history until they establish this, because otherwise they assume I’m absolutely stoned. I just have great huge pupils, so dark glasses are a nice, useful thing to have around because otherwise bright light can hurt.

AHAHAHAHA! Joss Whedon's Fans are Scaring Me ...
Background: This is from the SF Gate reviewer who gave Serenity a GLOWING review last week...Since reviewing the movie "Serenity" last week, I've become convinced that the new film by writer/director Joss Whedon has spawned the most hard core science fiction and fantasy enthusiasts ever to walk this planet. This includes people who learn to speak Klingon, people who remain in character after they leave the Renaissance Faire and people who boycotted the "Lord of the Rings" movies because there were elves at Helm's Deep.
As you may be able to tell -- if nothing else by the fact that I casually use words such as "Klingon" and "Helm's Deep" -- I am a huge geek. I recently went to a screening of "Serenity" and gave it a glowing review. Out of nearly 50 movies I reviewed this year, it was one of only three that I gave the coveted Chronicle clapping-guy-falling-out-of-the-chair rating.
Then the hate mail started. From "Serenity" fans. [more]

LOS ANGELES - The astronomers who claim to have discovered the 10th planet in the solar system have another intriguing announcement: It has a moon.
The moon discovery is important because it can help scientists determine the new planet's mass. In July, Brown announced the discovery of an icy, rocky object larger than Pluto in the Kuiper Belt, a disc of icy bodies beyond Neptune.
Brown labeled the object a planet and nicknamed it Xena after the lead character in the former TV series "Xena: Warrior Princess." The moon was nicknamed Gabrielle, after Xena's faithful traveling sidekick. -WTF??? [

Serenity Opens At No. 2
Joss Whedon's SF adventure film Serenity, based on the short-lived Fox TV series Firefly, debuted in second place at the box office with a lukewarm $10.1 million in ticket sales for the weekend of Sept. 30, the Associated Press reported. It was overtaken by the Jodie Foster vehicle Flightplan, which earned $15 million in its second week of release.
Also opening this weekend in limited release was the independent fantasy film MirrorMask, from director Dave McKean and writer Neil Gaiman, which appeared on just
18 screens. The film earned $127,000 for a respectable average of $7,055 per screen.
Meanwhile, the animated fantasy Corpse Bride, from director Tim Burton, had a third-place finish, earning $9.8 million over the weekend and lifting its total to $32.9 million after two weeks in wide release. Just Like Heaven, starring Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo, was sixth with $6.1 million in ticket sales, for a total of $38 million in three weeks. Weekend report
Well, since I posted, I have seen Serenity and Mirrormask, seen a guy get tazered by cops, fucked with my computer for like 10 more hours that I wanted to to get it working properly (to no avail), read a chapeter of Anansi Boys, and had a couple of chais. Not bad as far as weekends go, but I feel way behind on other stuff, as usual.
Sereniy was everything I wanted it to be. As good or betterthan the show, andit was truely Joss at his best. Go see it.
Mirrormask was beautiful, and wierd, and really wonderful all at the same time. Also go see it.
I am going to go now, have some apple tart from a coffe shop in Palo Alto, and read some more, slacking still further in the stuff I should have done around here this weekend.
Oh well...

MirrorMask on Sunday
I am also organizing a group to go see Mirrormask on Sunday in Palo Alto.
I saw Neil tonight, and he sat up for like 5 hours signing for us. It was wonderful. As you all may know, I named my iPod Neil, and now it is signed by him (with a little drawing of Dream on it)! I love it! And I am absolutley paraniod that I am going to do something to ruin it so I shall go take a picture of it right now!
Oh, and I saw Ray and Jen!
Anyway, Neil said that the movie is showing in so few theaters right now that even a couple hundred people going to see it on opening weekend will make a difference as to whether or not it will get a wider release soon. So I am compelled by a personal request to go, and to try and drag all of you with me. Believe me, you will in no way be dissapointed by this movie.
Right. Off to take photos and then sleep. It was a long, tiring, wonderful evening, and now I need sleep.
