Dude, that is so funny!

THE MATRIX RELOADED reloads on IMAX June 6
Sequel debuts one week from tomorrow

When the IMAX Corporation announced it had struck a deal with Warner Bros. to show THE MATRIX RELOADED customized for its IMAX-sized screens, fans wanted to know when they could expect to see giant versions of Neo and Trinity fighting in bullet-time. At the time IMAX only said that their version of RELOADED would come out shortly; now we know when that is. The IMAX version of THE MATRIX RELOADED will open one week from tomorrow on June 6.

The company plans to widen the release of RELOADED to the rest of their chain of theaters in the coming months. THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS will open on IMAX screens in tandem with the picture's standard theatrical debut on November 5.

Sweet.

Nightmare Before Christmas

""Capcom is pleased to collaborate with Buena Vista Interactive to bring Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas to video game fans," said Robert Lindsey, senior vice president, sales and marketing, Capcom Entertainment. "We believe the story will translate well to video games."
"This is the first time that an entire game will be based on Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas. The characters are featured in a popular gameworld in our multi-million unit selling title with Square Enix, Kingdom Hearts, and the feedback and desire from gamers to see and play more of the characters and environments is astounding," said Graham Hopper, senior vice president and general manager, Buena Vista Games. "Teaming up with Capcom and their talented development team in Japan further emphasizes our ongoing strategy to bring new, core gaming franchises to the video game community through our publishing label, Buena Vista Interactive."

The burninator!

Oh no! THE LORD OF THE RINGS -- the musical
Believe it or not, we might witness singing hobbits

If only J.R.R. Tolkien were alive to see what his LORD OF THE RINGS has wrought...

Plans are afoot for a musical adaptation of Tolkien's fantasy trilogy, to be performed on London's famous West End theater row. Film producer and Tolkien Enterprises chief Saul Zaentz is involved as are lyricist Shaun McKenna and composer Stephen Keeling. The production is being budgeted at a hefty $13 million dollars.

The play's producers would like the musical RINGS to debut in the West End in 2005. Undoubtedly the success of Peter Jackson's film trilogy had a huge hand in convincing investors that people might be interested in watching singing hobbits. Actually, when you stop and think about it, Tolkien's tome does have quite a bit of songmaking in it by the main characters. Will Gollum get his own solo?

Forward worth posting
Yeah, this is funny - I wonder what she would have said if they had called up....

Dr. Laura Schlessinger is a US radio personality who dispenses advice to people who call in to her radio show. Recently, she said that homosexuality is an abomination according to Leviticus 18:22, and cannot be condoned under any circumstance. The following is an open letter to Dr.Laura penned by a US resident, which was posted on the Internet. It's funny, as well as informative:

Dear Dr. Laura:
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. ... End of debate.

I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other specific laws and how to follow them.

1. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1: 9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

4. Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you
clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly stat es he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?

7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hairaround their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?

9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14) I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

Your devoted disciple and adoring fan.

Maybe It's Time for Me to Get Some Air

For those of you who don't know, when an applet doesn't work on the Mac, I am the one who hears about it (and the one who is expected to fix it). I get about 3 bugs per day from a combination of people inside Apple and external developers.

I'd been doing development work for the past week and had pretty much ignored the bug database, so a bunch of bugs had piled up.

After sifting through bugs for a few hours, most of them from people who are merely confused (i.e. they don't have a real bug, and probably couldn't describe it to me if they did), I came across a particularly bad bug report from a developer that had gone off. His ranting and raving was accompanied by several example files. He was convinced that we were all fuck-ups and he wanted to describe his position on that in detail. He did not describe what he expected to see, nor what he thought the problem was.

As it turns out, after I fixed a few typos in his HTML (which any decent tool would've caught) and actually compiled his .java files into .class files (ahem) his example worked.

I sent this to our Developer Tech Support staff (who will send a message to him)
I don't know what he's talking about ... but neither does he.

The cheeeeeese, Gromit...
They're not going to roll the cheeeeeeese!
Wallace and Gromit

Perilous Annual Cheese Chase Called Off
By Peter Graff

LONDON (Reuters) - This year, ankles will go unbroken and heads will go ungashed, because the perilous cheeses of Gloucestershire will, alas, go unrolled.

For centuries, residents of the English county of Gloucestershire have practiced the timeless and surprisingly dangerous springtime ritual of chasing large, speeding, round cheeses down steep hills. The winner gets to keep the cheese.

But this year's event, scheduled for Monday, was canceled because emergency crews who volunteered to help clear the tumbling casualties from the hillside were summoned to Algeria to rescue earthquake (news - web sites) victims, organizers said on Saturday.

"We are very disappointed its not going to be on, but obviously without having the first aid and rescue cover we just can't put the event on. We've had to cancel it," Richard Jefferies, a member of the organizing committee, told Reuters.

A spokeswoman for emergency search and rescue charity RAPID UK confirmed that the charity had pledged a crew, but pulled out at the last minute to send it to Algeria, where Wednesday's earthquake has left more than 1,750 dead.

"Apparently, it's not just running down a hill, it's almost like jumping off a cliff. People are often breaking arms and legs," she said of the cheese rolling event. "The RAPID side was hoisting the bodies up the cliff with their broken limbs."

Organizers say the annual cheese rolling contest dates back centuries, perhaps even to the Middle Ages. During World War II, when cheese was rationed, a wooden model cheese was used with a symbolic mini-cheese attached.

Last year, according to the organizers' Web site, "there were only three casualties requiring hospital attention," including a spectator who fainted.

"It's not very dangerous. People do get injured but usually minor abrasions, the odd broken arm or leg or something... nothing serious," said Jefferies. "I'm on the committee which organizes it but I've never done it. I've got more sense."

What Matrix Persona Are You?

Re: Postulating...

It's an urban legend.

Postulating....
A true story. A thermodynamics professor had written a take home exam for his graduate students. It had one question: Is hell exothermic or endothermic? Support your answer with a proof.

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law or some variant. One student, however wrote the following:

First, we postulate that if souls exist, then they must have some mass. If they do, then a mole of souls can also have a mass. So, at what rate are souls moving into hell and at what rate are souls leaving? I think
that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving.

As for souls entering hell, lets look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to hell. Since there are more than one of these religions and people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all people and all souls go to hell.

With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in hell to increase exponentially.

Now, we look at the rate of change in volume in hell. Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in hell to stay the same, the ratio of the mass of souls and volume needs to stay constant.

#1 So, if hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter hell, then the temperature and pressure in hell will increase until all hell breaks loose, meaning that hell is exothermic.

#2 Of course, if hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until hell freezes over, meaning that hell is endothermic.

So which is it? If we accept the postulate given me by Therese Banyan during Freshman year, and take into account the fact that I still have not succeeded in having sexual relations with her, then #2 cannot be true.

Therefore, hell is exothermic.

This student got the only A.

A Boy and His Frog

A boy was crossing a road one day when a frog called out to him and said, "If you kiss me, I'll turn into a beautiful princess." He bent over, picked up the frog and put it in his pocket.

The frog spoke up again and said, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a beautiful princess, I will stay with you for one week." The boy took the frog out of his pocket, smiled at it and returned it to his pocket.

The frog then cried out, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a princess, I'll stay with you and do ANYTHING you want." Again the boy took the frog out, smiled at it and put it back into his pocket.

Finally, the frog asked, "What is the matter? I've told you I'm a beautiful princess, that I'll stay with you and do anything you want. Why won't you kiss me?"

The boy said, "Look, I'm an engineer. I don't have time for a girlfriend, but a talking frog is cool."

;-)

Happy Birthday Busta!

HEY!
I think there should be some slack given by certain, specific, rubber bands for those who are spelling-ly challenged!

;-)

bomb-diggity!

hee hee hee

Alright, so I'm a rubber band

I wonder if the horrendous syntax is intentional, an ironic statement on "everything needing to make [sense]." (Even the alt tag isn't kosher.)

Me, I think it's just a case of the pic-maker sucking at spelling. :-)

Don't let them stretch you....You just might brake.
You are a Rubber Band.

What Fruity Object Are You?

And being that I have never owned Puma shoes, I had to take the quiz:

Hm, maybe that's how I learned Norwegian...
The California
The California. You're the slut of the hipster world. You sleep around, you kiss boys under the bleachers, you've woken up more than once in a bed you don't know, in a room you don't know, with a guy you don't know, in a country you don't know, speaking a language you didn't know you knew. But you know what... That's cool in a hipster. If the shoe fits, and all...

And :
HASH(0x87a44e0)
The Frankenclyde. Honestly, you're the coolest hipster of all. The drum sneaker with mystique. Like Russel Hammond in "Almost Famous." But you already knew that! You recognized that allusion! Thats how fucking cool you are! You know how cool it is to say "bomb-diggity" and "supah cool." You push coolness to the edge, and you never fall off. Essentially, you're me, and I like that in you.

Apparently, I am very cool. In a Puma sort of sense.

Which Puma shoe are YOU?
brought to you by Quizilla

Best. Quiz. Ever.
What Fruity Object Are You?

Go with your gut n these answers

I got:
Pooh looks like nothing next to you. =)
You are a Teddy Bear.

and then:

Don't let them stretch you....You just might brake.
You are a Rubber Band.

What Fruity Object Are You?
brought to you by Quizilla

neat.

Those questions were great.

This is horrible...
CALCULUS SEX
The Relationship:

They integrated from the very point of origin. Her curves were continuous, and even though he was odd, he was a real number. They both wanted to get skewed. The day their lines first intersected, they became an ordered pair.

From then on it was a continuous function. They were both in their prime, so in next to no time they were horizontal and parallel.

She was awed by the magnitude of his perpendicular line, and he was amazed by her conical projections. "bisect my angle!" she postulated each time she reached her local maximum. He taught her the chain rule as she implicitly defined the amplitude of his simple harmonic motion. They underwent multiple rotations of their axes, until at last they reached the vertex, the critical point, their finite limit. After that they slept like Logs. Later she found him taking a right-handed limit, that was a problem, it was improper form. He meanwhile had realized that she was irrational, not to mention square.

They diverged.

She's currently reaching the limit in a relationship that is somewhat undefined. He is currently unable to afford dating because he cosined a loan for his son, tan.

Man, I am a nerd today.

Here's my geek out for the morning: Ten Reasons Star Wars is Better Than Star Trek

10. In the Star Wars universe, weapons are rarely set on "stun."

9. The Death Star doesn't care if a world is class "M" or not.

8. After resisting the Imperial torture droid and Darth Vader, Princess Leia
still looked fresh and desirable. After some Cardassian torture and
starvation, Captain Picard looked like hell.

7. The bizarre aliens in the Mos Eisley cantina would make fun of Spock's
pointy ears.

6. Luke Skywalker is not obsessed with sleeping with every female alien he
encounters. [Just one human female who happens to be his sister. Yek!]

5. "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away" just sounds cooler than
"These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise."

4. Captain Picard pilots the Enterprise through an asteroid belt at one-
quarter impulse power. Han Solo floors it.

3. The starship Enterprise needs a huge engine room with an anti-matter unit
and a crew of 20 just to go into warp. The Millennium Falcon does the same
thing with R2-D2 and a Wookie.

2. Darth Vader could choke the entire Borg collective with one glance.

Happy Moving Day to Wendy and Dave!
Hope your move goes well today!

Memo from the Central Office: Pumpkin Party
OK, so, I have figured out that the Pumkin Party will be on October 26 (Sunday as usual). Mark your calendars!

Dave, there's no way I'm gonna let you play NWN that day so ask for time off now ( I'm just teasing! ).

Game Trailers and Demos
Gamesville just put out thier top 50 list of games and trailers.

Good stuff.

Big Basin
Yo, It was really fun to go hang out there (even with no sleep).

I wanna organize another day for us to go when we all can - it will be pretty cool up there, even in the summer. If anyone has any particularly appealing days that they want to suggest, let me know - I want to make it conveninet for everyone to come.

I'll try and figure something out for June?

Lemme know.

New Buffy Video Game
Hope it's as good as the first.... Info here

Weekend Mtrix comment - no spoiler:
I think that, as far as I have experienced, it is better the second time. You get to pay attention to the details and all the stuff that I was overly critical about the first time (because I had expectations) melted away.

Anyway, I'd reccommend a few theater viewings.

A note from your cruise director: big basin reminder
Here's the transcript of Mike's e-mail ......... er..... and e-mail that someone, a non-specific someone, sent earlier this week (the "I" all over the place is some non-descrpit person - pay no attention) - come if you can!:

I have finally gotten my act together with regard to Sunday. ( for race fans, that's pronounced: SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY )

The rest of this message contains the info that you will need if you would like to join us at Big Basin this Sunday. The attached file is a map that should help you find my picnic spot and the trail that I'd like to hike.

THE PLAN

I'm going to get out there at about 9am, and grab a good picnic spot. About 10am, I'd like to start on a hike on the Sequoia Trail. That hike should take between 2 and 3 hours.

All are welcome to join us on the hike. It's mostly level, and while a significant distance, it's well shaded and quite easy if you take your time ( as I plan to ). Please arrive at the picnic spot between 9 and 10am if you'd like to join us for the hike. You should plan to bring a liter of water and a snack on the hike.

If you don't catch up with us before we leave for the hike, we're gonna hike it clockwise. You can either go the other direction, or drive along the road until you see us, or you can go on your ownadventure until we get back around 1pm.

At around 1pm, when we get back from the hike, I'd like to eat and sit around and talk and play frisbee or hackysack or whatever. Everyone should bring their own food and drink.

There are grills ( bring your own charcoal ) and picnic tables at the picnic spots. If you are planning to use the grill, I suggest that you send email to everyone, so that we can plan accordingly. ( I'm planning to have a cold sandwich. )

You are welcome to show up at 1pm if you'd prefer to just attend the picnic part of the day. We'll only mock you a little for not getting off your lazy asses one day this month and seeing the beautiful redwood trees. ( wink )

DRIVING DIRECTIONS

The trip is 26 miles, from the Saratoga Ave exit on Hwy 85. If you reset your trip odometer when you exit Hwy 85, the mileage listed on the left should match the important way points.

[ 0 mi ] turn off Hwy 85 and head South towards Saratoga

[ 2 mi ] where Saratoga Ave joins Hwy 9, you should be in the right lane and go straight through the intersection with Hwy 9

[ 9 mi ] proceed straight on Hwy 9 ( crossing Skyline )

[14.5 mi ] veer right onto Hwy 236

[16.5 mi ] veer right at Waterman Gap ( stay on 236 )

[ 19 mi ] go straight through the intersection with China Grade Rd, following the signs toward the Ranger Station ( Park Headquarters )

[ 25 mi ] turn right at Park Headquarters, following signs for Parking, Picnic, Camp Store ( pay $5 at the booth ) then drive down that road past the Camp Store, Museum, No Camping Sign, fern, stump,
...

[25.2 mi ] past the 1st set of bathrooms, following signs for "Additional Parking"

[25.6 mi ] keep going ... ( through the open gate )

[ 26 mi ] turn left onto the little road that runs through the picnic area, looking for my truck

MY TRUCK

... is a White Toyota 4Runner with tinted windows and an Apple Logo in the center of the rear window.

Kev, you are such a goof!

All hail "me"!

Seriously, everybody should thank "me" for doing a great job!

For all interested parties, let it be known that upon his refusal to comply with the demands of the blogmistress (henceforth to be known as "me"), I have de-Admin - ed my dear friend so he is thus forward unable to modify our collective history.

What about Bad Deeds?

'cause we've got some, you see... Not quite as dirt cheap as the "dirty" ones (yes, good sir, that will wash right off!), but still in excellent condition!

No Good Deed Shall Go Unpunished

From the book of Chronos No-L, chapter 6, verses 22 through 18:

And, lo, the parachronal forces did rend the very FABRIC of the bloggy-goodness continuum.

And the name of MIKE, he known to some as the EDITOR OF THE WORDS and the INTERNATIONAL MAN OF MYSTERY, did pass from all memory.

And the timeline, dissatisfied with this assault upon Itself, did retcon and decree that, henceforth and heretofore, the name of MIKE would once more be known, but that "International Man of Mystery" would have meaning predating its initial appellation.

Effect and cause at work, the timeline viewed what It had wrought and pondered on Things Yet To Come.

Be Like Mike Lyrics
Sometimes I dream

That he is me

You've got to see that's how I dream to be

I dream I move, I dream I groove

Like Mike

If I could Be Like Mike

Like Mike

Oh, if I could Be Like Mike

Be Like Mike, Be Like Mike

Again I try

Just need to fly

For just one day if I could

Be that way

I dream I move

I dream I groove

Like Mike

If I could Be Like Mike

I wanna be, I wanna be

Like Mike

Oh, if I could Be Like Mike

E3: DUNGEONS & DRAGONS ONLINE announced MMORPG in development

Atari Games and Turbine Entertainment announced today that they are taking Wizard of the Coast's popular DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS role-playing game online. Turbine is the software company that developed the hit RPG games ASHERON'S CALL and the sequel.

The companies promise that the same sort of action found in the D&D paper-and-pen game will find its way into the MMORPG version. Dungeon crawls, character advancement, poltical intrique, territorial control, personal interaction and plenty of monster fighting will be in DUNGEONS & DRAGONS ONLINE.

"We've been looking for perfect opportunities to enter into the world of massively multiplayer online gaming and there is no fantasy gaming brand with more recognition than DUNGEONS & DRAGONS," said Bruno Bonnell, chairman and CEO of Atari. "The key to a productive business model for online gaming is having quality content that consumers will pay for. DUNGEONS & DRAGONS ONLINE will build on the huge amount of established content in the D&D worlds. It has the potential to be that killer online app...that breakthrough title that sets a new standard for the medium."

The game is tentatively scheduled for release sometime in 2005.

re:color Quiz

See, I know how to bait him too.... (wink) :-)

Matrix Reloaded
Really good flick. I'll refrain from discussing it until you guys have seen it too.

Oh, make sure you still around through the [interminable] end credits for a brief preview of Matrix Revolutions.

re: Color Quiz

... or, so called "web designers" could build pages using the set of colors that were "safe for the web", so that people would have a fair shot of seeing the same colors on pretty much any machine.

It's too bad that these colors are not separated out into a separate palette by the design tools. Oh, wait! They are! In every major HTML design tool! Huh.

Perhaps web designers just have a basic disdain for the rest of humanity ...

Re: Color Quiz
As a web deisgner, I have serious issues with both solaris AND, especially, Netscape.

I will refrain from any further comment about Macs as it may get me in a serious amount of trouble.

You should view the web on IE on a wondows 2000 machine and all will be well with the world :-)

(Yeah, I know, people are gonna kick my ass for that... hehehehehe)

Re: Color Quiz
Thanks to a combination of my machine and netscape, I wasn't actually seeing the colors correctly. On my screen, the colors appeared as different colors of red, different shades of black, brown, and yellow. It wasn't until I looked at the test with a Mac that I realized the test consisted of blue and some of the other colors. Maybe I'll retake the test later.

re: Wendy's Color Quiz
Yeah, I don't think you are that intense (in the painful sort of way). Mine is pretty much right on the money, but you know... It's random anyway.

Re: Color Quiz
Interesting. Some of it seems pretty true, but not all of it...

Your Existing Situation
Sensuous. Inclined to luxuriate in things which give gratification to the senses, but rejects anything tasteless, vulgar, or coarse.

Your Stress Sources
Feels that life has far more to offer and that there are still important things to be achieved--that life must be experienced to the fullest. As a result, she pursues her objectives with a fierce intensity that will not let go of things. Becomes deeply involved and runs the risk of being unable to view things with sufficient objectivity, or calmly enough; is therefore in danger of becoming agitated and of exhausting her nervous energy. Cannot leave things alone and feels she can only be at peace when she has finally reached her goal.

Your Restrained Characteristics
Emotionally inhibited. Feels forced to compromise, making it difficult for her to form a stable emotional attachment.

The situation is preventing her from establishing herself, but she feels she must make the best of things as they are.

Your Desired Objective
Seeks success, stimulation, and a life full of experience. Wants to develop freely and to shake off the shackles of self-doubt, to win, and to live intensely. Likes contacts with others and is enthusiastic by nature. Receptive to anything new, modern, or intriguing; has many interests and wants to expand her fields of activity. Optimistic about the future.

Your Actual Problem
The fear that she might be prevented from achieving the things she wants leads her to play her part with an urgent and hectic intensity.

Wow - Color quiz
Took the color quiz - it only takes a few seconds... these are my results (strikingly accrurate):

Your Existing Situation
Acts in an orderly, methodical, and self-contained manner. Needs the sympathetic understanding of someone who will give her recognition and approval. Imaginative and sensitive; seeking an outlet for these qualities--especially in the company of someone equally sensitive. Interest and enthusiasm are readily aroused by the unusual or the adventurous.

Your Stress Sources
Resists any form of pressure from others and insists on her independence as an individual. Wants to make up her own mind without interference, to draw her own conclusions and arrive at her own decisions. Detests uniformity and mediocrity. As she wants to be regarded as one who gives authoritative opinions, she find it difficult to admit to being wrong, while at times she is reluctant to accept or understand another's point of view. Wants to overcome a feeling of emptiness and to bridge the gap which she feels separates herself from others. Anxious to experience life in all its aspects, to explore all its possibilities, and to live it to the fullest. She therefore resents any restriction or limitation being imposed on her and insists on being free and unhampered.

Your Restrained Characteristics
Circumstances are such that she feels forced to compromise for the time being if she is to avoid being cut off from affection or from full participation.
Unhappy at the resistance she feels whenever she tries to assert herself. Indignant and resentful because of these setbacks, but gives way apathetically and makes whatever adjustments are necessary so that she can have peace and quiet.

Wants to broaden her fields of activity and insists that her hopes and ideas are realistic. Distressed by the fear that she may be prevented from doing what she wants; needs both peaceful conditions and quiet reassurance to restore her confidence.

Willing to become emotionally involved, but demanding and particular in her choice of a partner and in her relations with those close to her. Needs reassurance and is careful to avoid open conflict since this might reduce her prospects of realizing her hopes.

Your Desired Objective
Longs for a tender and sympathetic bond and for a situation of idealized harmony. Has an imperative need for tenderness and affection. Susceptible to anything esthetic. Seeks success. Wants to overcome obstacles and opposition and to make her own decisions. Pursues her objectives single-mindedly and with initiative. Does not want to feel dependent on the good will of others.

Your Actual Problem
Greatly impressed by the unique, by originality, and by individuals of outstanding characteristics. Tries to emulate the characteristics she admires and to display originality in her own personality. Strongly resists outside influence and any interference with her freedom to make her own decisions and plans. Works to establish and strengthen her own position.

Your Actual Problem #2
Seeks to avoid criticism and to prevent restriction of her freedom to act, and to decide for herself by the exercise of great personal charm in her dealings with others.

Quiz: what Kind of Lover are You?
hmmmmmm. I got:
Romantic Lover You are the romantic lover. Candles, chocalates, and roses are your idea of symbols for true love. Nothing makes your smile more than a big Teddy Bear. You are a Die Hard supporter of Valentine's Day and all that it is supposed to stand for. Nothing better than spending a quiet evening at home with your special someone. XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOX Hugs and Kisses Babe!

All the answers except one particular set seemed a little nuts so yeah, I guess so.

Oh No!: Travolta Joins Punisher

Artisan Pictures and Marvel Studios have set John Travolta to play the lead villain opposite Thomas Jane in The Punisher, based on the Marvel Comics series, Variety reported. Jonathan Hensleigh is directing from his own script, starting in July for a summer 2004 release.

The Punisher is the tale of an FBI undercover agent who sees his family slaughtered and seeks revenge. Travolta plays Howard Saint, a former underworld figure who goes straight, but returns to old habits after his son is slain.

ok, so I dig all of these comic book movies, but Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez, Travolta??? That's just not right.

Five Hurt in Badger Rampage

LONDON (Reuters) - An angry domesticated badger savaged five people, leaving one man so seriously injured he needed skin grafts, and chased away pursuing police officers during a 48-hour rampage through a quiet English town.

One-year-old Boris launched what experts described as unprecedented attacks after finding himself hungry, alone and frightened after being stolen or released from a wildlife visitor center where he had been hand-reared and hand-fed.

"I have been involved with badgers for 24 years and I have never heard of anything like this, nor has anyone I have spoken to," Mike Weaver, chairman of the Worcestershire Badger Society told Reuters on Tuesday.

Weaver was brought in by police to catch Boris, who had bitten the five victims' arms and legs after getting loose near Evesham, Worcestershire, in central England.

The officers themselves had been chased onto the bonnet of their car as they tried to round up Boris, who was later put down.

Weaver said badgers were notoriously powerful animals and the incident showed the folly of trying to turn wild animals into pets.

A Great Idea for Cutting Down the Amount of Tech Support Email

So, I am on Sun's Java site all the time. We use their applets to test our changes. I found a page where the applet didn't work at all. It turned out that was because the applet's jar was funky -- it doesn't work on Windows XP either. So, being the good netizen that I am, I tried to tell Sun's webmaster about the problem. I filled in the form, pasted in the 30 lines of messages from the applet, pretty much pinpointing the problem, clicked the "Submit" button. Clicked the "Submit" button. Blinked a couple times. Clicked the "Submit" button. Stared at the little flag in the upper-right hand corner of Windows IE 6, which was not moving in the slightest. Clicked the "Submit" button. Stared into the camera ...

This is a fantastically effective method of cutting down the number of support emails. I wonder if it was intentional.

Hey No-L
The Gilmore Girls spin-off is apparently a go as a midseason replacement.

Re: Generic Anime Character

Mmmm... fangirly.
You're a bishounen!
You're male, but people often mistake you for the other option. You're unfeasibly thin and pretty and always have perfect hair, often surrounded by sparkles/sakura/roses. You almost certainly have a tragic backstory which involves one or more of your parents, and are liable to have a Tragic Destiny (TM). You were almost certainly invented by a female mangaka, are worshipped by a female audience, and your life is characterised by periods of extreme pain and angst. Sucks to be you.

Which generic anime character are you?

Re: Generic Anime Character

Hoeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!
You're a Magical Girl!
You're sugar-hyped, caffeine-hyped, and permanently genki-er than a whole busload of Disney characters on crack. You eat too much, you're a total klutz, and somehow this makes you an ideal candidate for saving the world. If you're really unlucky, you get to get naked in an embarrassing transformation sequence in every single episode, with only a few sparkles and pastel blobs to cover your dignity.

Which generic anime character are you?

re:Doom 3
Holy CRAP that looks like fun!

I'll have to bribe someone (ahem, Dave) into playing it for me...

re: Dave's Quiz
Yep, this is about right:

AHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
You're a villain!
...though you prefer to think of yourself as misunderstood. You know the world would be a better place if they'd only let you be in charge of it, and if they don't appreciate your genius by themselves you're willing to make them. You've got good hair, a secret base and an ambivalent relationship with the bishounen hero. You've got the money, the women, the best mecha and your own private army, but you still lose in the end to some jumped-up kid with spiky hair. There is no justice.

Doom 3 E3 Footage

Don't let the name fool you, though Microsoft got to announce that Doom 3 will be on the X-Box what your seeing is the PC build of the game as no work has been started for the X-Box port yet...

This is best watched in the dark where you can see as much detail as possible, none the less...
Check it

No part of that is a pre-rendered "cut-scene". The entire game is rendered in real time.

Lets Try Something New

I know.... A TEST! :)

I am the mission.
You're a mecha pilot!
You might be a sub-category of bishounen, but this hardly matters since you don't notice anything that didn't feature in the last edition of Guns'n'Ammo magazine. You have been trained since an unfeasibly early age to be a machine of death and destruction. If you've noticed an annoying girl following you around and repeatedly getting into danger and requiring rescue recently, run like hell - she's probably your love interest...

DJ Links
So, I signed up for this newsletter that send you a weekly link to some DJ'd music, usually from a Elastiq show, for download straight off the newsletter.

It's usually pretty cool so I will post the link and if you wanna download, go for it. They are usually like 75 megs and are about 75 min long so be prepared. You can right click and "save target as" to download instead of listening on the web (from your temp files).

This week, they have Justin Corbitt. Pretty good.

New Stuff from the Noble Collection
LOTR Goodies - mostly broaches and jewlery, but cool to look at.

I'm stoked that they are producing this stuff - very cool.

I like the Arwen Headress - waiting for the other elvish headresses...

Parable for the day: Cracked Pot...

A water bearer in China had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which he carried across his neck. One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pots of water to his house.

Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, for which it was made. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do.

After 2 years of what perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer one day by the stream. I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes the water to leak out all the way back to your house.

The bearer said to the pot, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side? That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them. For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house."

Review: League of Extrodinary Gentlemen Comic

I'd highly recommend this comic. It was really good and probably good prep for the movie. Alan Moore (who wrote the comic "from Hell" that the movie was based on) kicks much ass at the story tell. Plus, there's lots of subtle little things in the art that are nice presents if you are familiar with any of the stories, or if you are just paying attention.

Good stuff.

Uh oh - there is a serious chance I may have to become a hypocrit....

Race Driver's License Confiscated for Speeding

NICE, France (Reuters) - Colombian Formula One driver Juan Pablo Montoya has had his driving license confiscated for speeding, French police said on Monday.

The Williams driver was caught driving at 204 kph in his BMW on a motorway between Le Muy and Frejus, on the French Riviera.

Chased by motorcycle policemen, he had his license confiscated on the spot.

Montoya, who lives in Monte Carlo, faces a heavy fine as speeds are limited to 130 kph on French motorways.

The incident will not affect his world championship campaign since a regular driving license is not required to drive a Formula One car.

Lunar Eclipse, while we wait:
So, this will happen while we are in line for Matrix....

Later this week, millions of sky watchers can step outside and see the first lunar eclipse of 2003. This story, which tells when and where to watch, begins with a bit of science fiction to present the eclipse from an
unusual point of view. more

League of Exrodinary Gentlemen
I am all about this movie! The teaser trailer is cool too!

I think I may try and read the source material on these characters (Jekle and Hyde, Dracula, etc....) before the movie. I have read a couple of them, but that was a while ago... We'll see if I get time...

Man Advertises 'Son for Sale' on Internet

LONDON (Reuters) - A man who jokingly offered his five-year-old son for sale on the Internet has had to explain himself to police after a complaint from a concerned web surfer.

Police officers visited Alex Wilson at his Scottish home after being alerted by a Canadian woman who spotted the offer on a Web Site selling bicycles and prams, the Times newspaper reported on Friday.

'Hyperactive kid for sale, good at vacuuming, not great at washing dishes because he's too short,' the ad read. 'Guaranteed to annoy. Five pounds ($8) or nearest offer.'

Wilson, 33, of Carrickstone, placed the ad as a joke about two years ago to tease his son Liam, now aged seven. He then forgot all about it until he heard from the police, the Times said.

'The police officer was quite jokey at the end of the conversation, but said I'd have to remove the advert,' Wilson told the newspaper.

You have a good imagination, and often exhibit sensitivity to others.

At times, you may tend to be overly sensitive to criticism. You can be excessively cautious or narrow in your outlook unless you receive the right kind of encouragement.

You are a warm hearted person, with much love to give. You probably like children, and exhibit many playful characteristics.

There may be times in your life when you give in to feelings of sadness or depression.

You are likely to make decisions based on intuition or feelings rather than intellect.

Your personality is dynamic and attractive to most people. The more branches you find in your heart line, the more friends and lovers you will have. Your sincerity and compassion make people like you even more.

There are inconsistencies in your energy level, possibly triggered by external factors or emotional changes.

You have a basically strong constitution, and should enjoy good health most of the time.

You were probably given a good start in life by your parents. This could be based on your general upbringing, or on physical characteristics you inherited.

You are likely to make many changes in the direction of your life. This may be based on interruptions due to health problems, or it may be that you just have trouble focusing your energy. The most productive time in your life will probably occur in middle age.

A major illness or setback is predicted near mid-life. You have the ability to recover from this. The most productive time in your life will probably occur in the second half of life

Rumor: Dave in the house
There is a rumor floating around that Dave may be in for game night.........

Just in case you were wondering.

Phish: July 9
Anybody interested?

It's the stinkiest show you will ever love.

You have a good imagination, and often exhibit sensitivity to others.

There is a tremendous amount of intensity in your mental processes. Your ability to concentrate is excellent. At times you have the ability to focus your mind so strongly that the rest of the world is shut out.

The general flexibility of your character is a useful attribute. At certain times in your life, you may have romantic conflicts and difficulty maintaining friendships. You will overcome these problems after a little introspection.

You are a warm hearted person, with much love to give. Your high energy level enhances your ability to express affection.

Your high energy level draws people to you.

re: My Evilness
Silly Boy, You cannot transcribe "I Dream of Jeanie" into simple text. It is far to rich and complex a dittie to do so in a time effective manner. The trumpet solo alone (come on, hear it in your head) would take a couple hundred word-sounds alone.

Besides, I am high tech, I downloaded it, posted it on my server and have linked it here for you all to torture yourselves with. And, because I know that you all are at least slightl evil, I know that you will click it. (**evil giggle**)

re: Noelle's evilness
Go ahead and post away... It'll be worth it just to see how you transcribe the song! hee hee

Evil all a-twitter
I think your second-level-of-Hell secret subconscious is trying to tell you something with that choice of song.

And after yesterday's denials too! ;-)

Re: My Evilness
Don't MAKE me post the I drem of Jeanie song....

RE: Kevin's Evilness
OK, dude, do you REMEMBER when we used to have this battle??????

Who would always win??????

Yeah, that's right. I have secret weapons galore, so don't insult me with your silly Disney songs.

If you want it, it's on.

WHIP IT

crack that whip
give the past the slip
step on a crack
break your momma's back
when a problem comes along
you must whip it
before the cream sits out too long
you must whip it
when something's going wrong
you must whip it
now whip it
into shape
shape it up
get straight
go forward
move ahead
try to detect it
it's not too late
to whip it
whip it good
when a good time turns around
you must whip it
you will never live it down
unless you whip it
no one gets their way
until they whip it
i say whip it
whip it good

Urban Challenge
OK, this looks like fun.

Two-person teams find and visit 12 checkpoints on the unrehearsed urban landscape using only clues, their feet, and public transit. No set course. Event begins with a Trivia Challenge — the sharpest teams get a head start.

I'd love to do it, but it's comic-con weekend. Anyone not going to comic-con (and who is, therefore, LAME) may be able to redeem their lameness through this.

re: Evil
You want evil? You want evil?

I got yer evil right here:

It's a Small World

It's a world of laughter
A world of tears
It's a world of hopes
And a world of fears
There's so much that we share
That it's time we're aware
It's a small world after all

There is just one moon
And one golden sun
And a smile means
Friendship to ev'ryone
Though the mountains divide
And the oceans are wide
It's a small world after all

It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small, small world

BWAH HA HA HA HA!

re: Evil
[from Floor 8] Yes...?

re: Evil
LOL! ok, that was good...er... evil.

That's too bad, you could have come up to the second floor for the killer party we have going. But alas, only friends on the guest list. And we've got godesses galore up here! Oh well, we'll have to spend all of our energy on Dave...

Editor's Note: As outlined in the Dave and wendy CYOA clause, I am obliged to remind all that this energy in no way is meant to have any implications other than some really hard partying. All other implications are null and void. Any questions can be answered by the lawyers on Floor 8 - the Malebolge.

re: Evil
Friends ( and their loyalty ) can indeed be useful, but I find that loyalty and belief ( as strong as they are ) to pale in comparison with Fear. Raw, animal, straight from the base of your spine, metallic taste in your mouth, mind-numbing Fear is a much more powerful response to evoke.

I have no friends in Hell.

Muwaaahaaahaaa!   Muwaaahaaahaaahaaa!!

re: Evil
(in a very black night sort of voice) Do your worst.... but be prepared to pay the consequences

:-) I tooo am evil, and have WAY more frends in the bowels of hell than you

re: Evil ( was re: Hell )
Apparently, Noelle does not appreciate the depths of my Evil.
Perhaps a demonstration is necessary...

re: Hell
D - not to invalidate the ee - vill-ness of Mike, but I know some people a bit higher up... er... farther down.

You should keep your options open...

So, Mike fixed some stuff on the Blog that should make the performance better (not eat so much CPU).

He baits me... and I make him an admin....... and he makes all of our machines run better.

See, I know what I am doing... :-)

Thanks Mike!
