Back from the dead
We're back.

I almost died.

I spent my Christmas break throwing up and wanting to die for 4 days. Finally, on Christmas day, I felt well enough to eat again, so at least I got my Christmas miracle. It was pretty awful.

Anyway, I hope that I took one for the team Karma-wise and you all had a wonderful and bright holiday season!

I am so happy that holidays are over and I can hibernate for a while :-) Oh wait. I am currently booked through the middle of February. Lame.

URGENT Kitty Request
Friends,
As you may have heard from Noelle and Chris, my wife and I are moving to London in the next few days. We have two cats, Mandy and Kitty, who will be joining us in May after they complete their paperwork. We had someone lined up to watch the cats until May but that has fallen through and now we're scrambling to find them some temporary accommodation until they can come to London.

If you or anyone you know wouldn't mind having 2 feline house guests for a few months, we would be eternally grateful. They are both strictly indoor cats, are very social and loving, get on with other pets and really enjoy sleeping. A lot. Mandy sleeps on our bed every night and likes to "talk." Kitty likes to find a comfortable spot and just sleep. They get on really well with each other and keep each other company.

So if you have some room for two very well behaved kitties, please email me or Deanne ASAP by clicking on our names. Or give us a call - Noelle has our numbers.

Thanks everyone, we can't tell you how much it means to us.

Alex

Hundreds Line Up In Alameda For Ancient Liquor
On the first day that the legendary alcoholic drink absinthe went on sale in the United States legally in about a century, hundreds of people lined up outside an Alameda warehouse to get their hands on the stuff. [more]

more caffeinated THAN caffeinated is our motto at the Starbucks corporation
"The facts of coffee… to make an alteration in the evolvement of an drink is fatal. A beverage sequence cannot be revised once it’s been established.

Why not?

Because by the second shot added, any sweeteners that have been added give rise to cloying taste like rats leaving a sinking ship, then the ship sinks.

What about latte recombination?

We’ve already tried it, soy, nonfat, half-and-half as an alkalating agent and potent mutagen, it created a beverage so lethal the yuppie was dead before it even left the parking lot.

Then caramel or cinnamon dusting, that would block the taste buds.

Wouldn’t obstruct swallowing but it does give rise to a sweetness problem so that the newly formed beverage carries with it a taste defect and you’ve got a problem again… but this, all of this is academic. You were made as well as we could make you."

as found here.

All I can think is this cat got subjected to the infamous and most unthinkable of all dares: the tripple dog dare

Jackson To Produce The Hobbit
The Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson has settled his differences with New Line Cinema and will executive-produce a two-part adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, the studio announced.

New Line and MGM signed a deal to co-finance and co-distribute The Hobbit and a sequel to the film. New Line will handle distribution in North America, and MGM will distribute internationally, the two studios said. It's unclear whether Jackson will helm the films.

New Line added that it and Jackson have settled all litigation over Jackson's profit participation in the $3 billion-grossing Rings trilogy, without giving details. The settlement apparently brings to an end the acrimonious split between Jackson and New Line.

Jackson and Fran Walsh will executive-produce the films, to be shot simultaneously, and New Line will manage their production.

Preproduction will begin soon, and principal photography is tentatively set for 2009. The release of the first film is slated for 2010 and the sequel in 2011.

Jackson, MGM chairman and chief executive Harry Sloan and New Line co-chairman and co-chief executives Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne jointly made the announcement on Dec. 18. [via]

For those of you who intend on traveling on planes with your holiday gifts, beware!
According to TSA:

“Do not wrap gifts you're taking on the plane. Security officers may have to unwrap gifts if they need to take a closer look. Either ship wrapped gifts ahead of time or wait until your destination to wrap them.” [see for yourself]
