Re: Job seeker
Ok, I have resume accounts at all the big companies I would like to work at. I have them on Monster and HotJobs. I have my cover letter written and I am searching for employment as we speak. I think this is going to be a long journey, but I have taken the first huge steps. Hopefully, it will not take me as long as my fallen comrades to find new employment.... Wish me luck.
More Legal Follies - Lawyer Convicted of Mailing Poisonous Snake
An Arkansas lawyer and his son were convicted of mailing a poisonous copperhead snake to a neighbor with whom they had been feuding. Sentencing was delayed because both men tested positive for drugs. Go figure. Geez, guys, haven't you heard of the flaming bag of poop? [

Judge Shoots Boy for Throwing Snowballs
BERLIN (Reuters) - A German judge took the law into his own hands and peppered a teen-ager with lead shot when snowballs went astray and hit the wall of his house, a court in the northern town of Lueneburg said Wednesday. "Two 16-year-olds were having a snowball fight, and the judge's house got hit. Then the light went on, the door opened, and a shotgun fired off two rounds," said court spokesman Juergen Wigger. "The judge was alone at home." He said one of the boys' mothers saw her son had been shot in the arm and called the police who arrested the 55-year-old judge and confiscated the firearm. Investigations were continuing.

Darabont: Indy IV Script Done
Frank Darabont told Variety that he has completed the screenplay for the long-awaited Indiana Jones 4, which may shoot this year with Harrison Ford starring, Steven Spielberg directing and George Lucas executive producing. Paramount is hoping to distribute the film in 2005, the trade paper reported.
"I've finished my work, so now it's in the hands of God, or Spielberg and Lucas, if you prefer," Darabont told the trade paper.
Writer-director Darabont, whose Darkwoods Productions just signed a three-year first-look production deal at Paramount Pictures, is also developing the action-adventure film Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze, based on the 1930s pulp novel series.

Beware! Here be Dragons!
A recently taken undated hand out photograph received on January 25, 2004 shows a fake baby dragon encased in a 30 inch (0.76 metres) jar which was discovered by David Hart in a garage in Oxfordshire, southern England. A metal tin found alongside the dragon contained paperwork written in an old-fashioned German style of the 1890s, a time when their was intense rivalry between Britain's and Germany's scientists. The documents suggest that Britain's Natural History Museum turned the dragon away and sent it to be destroyed, only for the jar to be intercepted by David Hart's grandfather, Frederick Hart, who worked as a porter.

At least something got done tonight
So I watched the 3rd episode of theis season's Alias and am catching up on 4-9 via internet summary (hopefully I can see them in the off season) before I watch the major episode that Esther taped for me (thank you!!!) so that I can just start watching weekly. (That was one hell of a run on!)
I also got everything that people have paid for from eBay packaged up and ready to go. I transfered the $500 I got for it all into my bank so I can send that off to my credit cards (YAY!) and then did my federal taxes during commercial breaks of Angel. I managed to get an $1100.00 refund so that's all going to credit cards too (again, YAY!).
So I think that I will finish catching up on Alias and then go watch the crack that I have been teased with for like 4 weeks now...
Hm, I should finish up my resume.... I guess I will have to do that tomorrow night. Then I can spend the weeknd sending it out into the void like my dear friend OddTodd.
Yeah, that's my random update for the evening. Hope you all are having a swell week.

Lyrics! Macy Gray: Oblivion
it's real sick
the state of the world today
it's real thick
to come up and find a way
solution
the next time you're alone
you can
create a world of your own
make it magic
give it love
make it all you're dreaming of
everybody
in my underwear
sometimes I visit there
oblivion
ignorance is bliss
don't know nothing but this
oblivion
forget
bounce from right to left
here with the broken hearted
let's get this party started
lalalalalala
I eat my marimbas
oblivion
I tingle when I sing
bling bling bling ting ting
oblivion
forget
bounce from right to left
here with the broken hearted
let's get this party started
it's tempting to pack up your throne
move in
make this magic place your home
but nobody else can go
you'll be forever all alone
forget
bounce from right to left
no longer broken hearted and I don't know when it started
oblivion
RE: Bowie
The concert was REALLY good!. Macy Gray opened for him, which I sat through most of an heckled, however, her closing number, Oblivion, made Esther and I laugh so hard that we were crying. It was great.
Anyway, seeing Bowie sing Man Who Sold the World and Under Pressure was one of the coolest things I have seen in a long time. His backup singer for Under Pressure sounded
better than Freddie. It was rad.
Looking forward to Sting Next month....
Off to see Bowie soon!
I am excited about this show - he shoudl be a trip to see (last time I was in the BACK row of teh great Western Forum in LA and NIN was on next so I didn't see much)!

A Slight Vindication
So I am over there, talking to G today about all the stuff I am doing. I mention a project that Bill is involved in. I see him get up and bee-line straight over to where we are and he starts in on me about the project and what did I mean by saying that I had to figure out what we needed to do blah blah blah. I was taken aback and started to say that I think he misinterpreted what I said.
G butts in, yells at B and tells him the he (G) is talking to me and B needs to stay the hell out of it. He then tells me to get in the conference room and slams the door on the way in.
I am mortified.
However, G sits down and launches into a 1/2 hour bitch session about how he is sick and tired of B's "Egomaniacle attitude problem" and states repeatedly that Bill is a "big fat bully." He goes on and on about what a jerk he is and how he doesn't know if he can take much more of this.
Ahem.
Yeah.
I think I mentioned that several weeks ago when I was castrate for being alive....
Anyway, that made me happy. :-)

W32/Mydoom@MM generates emails with a spoofed From: field, so incoming messages may appear to be from people you know. Furthermore, the subject line and message body are both randomly generated by the worm.

Ever wonder what would happen if you ate nothing but fast food for an entire month? Just ask Morgan Spurlock. He bagged the documentary-directing prize at the Sundance Film Festival for his film,
Super Size Me, which chronicles his 30-day McDonald's diet and the subsequent deterioration of his health. Dining at the golden arches three times daily for a month, Spurlock packed on 25 pounds and suffered headaches, depression and a low libido. His liver became toxic, his cholesterol skyrocketed and he found himself vomiting from car windows. "He was an extremely healthy person who got very sick eating this McDonald's diet," said Spurlock's physician. What says Mickey Dees? "Consumers can achieve balance ... by choosing from our array of quality offerings and range of portion sizes to meet their taste and nutrition goals." Mm-hmm.

The Bush administration is moving to revamp a stream-protection rule that Appalachian environmentalists view as their best weapon for fighting the strip-mining technique known as mountaintop removal.
The proposed rule change by the Office of Surface Mining would make it clear that filling valleys and covering streams is permitted under federal law if companies show that they are minimizing mining waste and the environmental damage caused by it. The rule could take effect as early as mid-March.

Lyrics: Truly (Featuring Nerina Pallot)
Artist: Delerium
I know good things, I know bad as well
Any witness to the world will tell
If there is sorrow, then there is beauty and trust
A secret pearl inside the heart of us...
So truly, if there's light then I want to see it
Now that I know what I am looking for
Truly, if there;s joy then I want to feel it
Here in this world is where I want to be
'Cause I can't cry anymore
And there is magic now, under blood red trees,
All the sky will scream a mystery
And if we're strangers here, from the day we are born
Why be afraid of freedom if it is yours?
So truly, if there's light then I want to see it
Now that I know what I am looking for
Truly, if there;s joy then I want to feel it
Here in this world is where I want to be
'Cause I can't cry anymore
All the world is calling, calling out my name
All the world is saying it won't be the same
All the sky is showing how it;s gonna be
But I'm scared and I'm tired of being like me...
So truly, if there's light then I want to see it
Now that I know what I am looking for
Truly, if there;s joy then I want to feel it
Here in this world is where I want to be
'Cause I can't cry anymore

I finished up American Gods today. It was a pretty good book, but had a very distant and cold feeling to it. At any time, if I put the book down to do something else, I wasn't left with a happy or excited feeling about what would happen next. Mostly, I just wanted to see what was up with Shadow.
Anyway, it's a good read....

Woman Headed for Exorcist with Son in Suitcase?
BERLIN (Reuters) - German police have arrested a Croatian woman who was traveling with her two-year-old son shut up in a suitcase on the way to an exorcist, authorities said on Thursday.
Police in the Bavarian capital Munich said they arrested the 24-year-old mother at a bus stop after a passenger heard noises coming from her suitcase and discovered the almost naked toddler huddled up inside.
"It was almost freezing that day, but the boy was only wearing a nappy. He was shivering quite badly but unharmed," said a police spokesman.
The woman told police her son was "possessed by the devil" and that she wanted to bring him to an occult priest, the spokesman added. She is now in psychiatric care.
Well, You're in a Good Mood Today, Officer...
JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israeli police had to close an entire floor of their station because the pungent scent of tons of confiscated marijuana was making them high, an Israeli newspaper said Friday.
The drugs, smuggled from Egypt, are kept in a storeroom of a police station in the southern town of Dimona. Police have confiscated so much, that the room is filled up almost immediately after its contents are sent to be incinerated.
"Every time I came to work I felt...like I was high," the Maariv newspaper quoted one officer as saying. "The smell of marijuana was killing us -- it was impossible to work."
The newspaper said a police medical officer ordered personnel to move to another floor until the drugs could be shipped out.

NASA last heard from Spirit early Wednesday, its 18th day on Mars. Since then, it has only sporadically returned random, meaningless radio noise, scientists said. Initially, the scientists believed weather problems on Earth caused the glitch. They said they now believe the rover is experiencing hardware or software problems. [

Looks like Joss wants to do another Fray
Buffy Lives In Comics
Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon told SCI FI Wire that he hopes to keep the franchise alive—in comics, including a follow-up to his Fray series. "I'm still doing [Dark Horse's] Tales of the Vampires," Whedon said in an interview. "And after that I'd like to do another Fray book [about a Slayer in the future]. But I keep taking things on, and my wife is still smiling, but I don't know how long that's going to last."
Earlier, avowed comics fan Whedon confirmed to SCI FI Wire that he may be writing a series of X-Men comics for Marvel. "I can't answer that question at all, because I'm really not officially doing it," he said. "It sort of leaked out that I wanted to do it. I'd say the same thing I say about the show, I really like the characters, and so I want to put them in pain."
19 Ways To Keep A Healthy Level Of Insanity
I love #7 - I think I may start doing that to G...
1. At lunch time, sit in your parked car with sunglasses on and point a hairdryer at passing cars. See if they slow down.
2. Page yourself over the intercom. Don't disguise your voice.
3. Every time someone asks you to do something, ask if they want fries with that.
4. Put your garbage can on your desk and label it "In."
5. Put decaf in the coffee maker for 3 weeks. Once everyone has gotten over their caffeine addictions, switch to espresso.
6. In the Memo field of all your checks, write "For Sexual Favors."
7. Finish all your sentences with "In accordance with the prophecy."
8. Don't use any punctuation
9. As often as possible, skip rather than walk.
10. Ask people what sex they are. Laugh hysterically after they answer.
11. Specify that your drive-thru order is "to go."
12. Sing along at the opera.
13. Go to a poetry recital and ask why the poems don't rhyme.
14. Put mosquito netting around your work area and play tropical sounds all day.
15. Five days in advance, tell your friends you can't attend their party because you're not in the mood.
16. Have your co-workers address you by your wrestling name, Rock Hard?
17. When the money comes out of the ATM, scream "I won, I won!"
18. When leaving the Zoo, start running towards the parking lot, yelling "Run for your lives, they're loose!!"
19. Tell your children over dinner, "Due to the economy, we are going to have to let one of you go."

Today's word: crapulent
crapulent (KRAP-yuh-luhnt) adjective
Sick from excessive drinking or eating.
[From Late Latin crapulentus (very drunk), from Latin crapula (drunkenness), from Greek kraipal (hangover, drunkenness).]
Again, not what I thought, but it does make sense - "how are you?" "crapulent."

But WB honcho Jordan Levin told reporters that he doesn't believe the supernatural series will conflict with The WB's other vampire show, Angel. "I don't think the two shows will be competing against one another," Levin said at the network's winter press tour in Hollywood.
Levin added, "We haven't seen Dark Shadows yet. What was interesting about that is that anytime John Wells walks in the door and says he's excited about wanting to do something differently—in this case, a gothic soap opera, you know, based on Dark Shadows—I think that's something you're obviously going to pay attention to. I think that two shows could co-exist. One is an action-adventure franchise, and one is a very gothic soap opera franchise."
Angel co-creator Joss Whedon, meanwhile, expressed surprise when informed that another bloodsucker series was in the frog network's docket. "I was not aware of that," he said, with typical tongue in cheek. "I quit." He added seriously, "You know, clearly, I'm the 97th guy to use the vampire metaphor to tell stories. I have no problem with there being a 98th. ... But at least it's not an important, successful producer."
Do you know what happened this week back in 1850?
California became a state.
The state had no electricity.
The state had no money.
Almost everyone spoke Spanish.
There were gun fights in the streets.
So basically, it was just like California today...

Quick fix
OK, well, I decided to not spend my morning surfing my normal sites in order that I could finish my resume and pass it around. So that's done now and one more thing off my plate! Is uppose that it will undergo some changes and then I can start Mission 3, which may take a while.
I messed up
I had delusions that I was gonna post more stuff to eBay and get all of my resume done and stuff last night.
Instead, I fell asleep at like 7:00 and at 9:30, when Carl called, I woke up but then spent a good chunk of time watching Bab5.
I guess I'll have to do it all tonight....

Farmer's Diamonds Go to Waste But Are Recovered
NEW DELHI (Reuters) - It's not quite the goose that laid the golden egg, but an Indian diamond merchant's prize cow is producing bejeweled dung.
Dilubhai Rajput had stashed a bag of more than 1,700 small diamonds, worth almost $900, in a pile of hay at his home in Gujarat state, famous both for its dairy and diamond-cutting industries, but hadn't reckoned on the risk of a hungry cow, the Economic Times newspaper reported on Monday.
Now he's feeding the animal a diet of grass, grain, fruit and laxatives and has so far recovered 300 diamonds in three days.
"I am sure within a week I will retrieve all my diamonds," the paper quoted Rajput as saying.
It was unclear why he chose to hide the stones in the hay.

Word of the day: alienist
alienist (AYL-yuh-nist) noun
A psychiatrist, especially one who has been accepted by a court to assess mental competence of those appearing in court regarding a case.
[From French aliéniste (alienist), from Latin alienatus, past participle of alienare (to estrange), from Latin alienus (alien). Why this word? Because an alienist treats those who are believed to be alienated from their normal state of mind.]

"I will [go back to work] soon," Chase said in an interview. "They're going to start filming in March. Unfortunately, I can't say anything about it, [but] it will definitely be horrifying."
Chase added that the producers have not even shown her the script yet. "They're waiting until the last minute [to show me]," she said. "I'm pretty sure I'll get to kill everybody again. That'll be fun." DreamWorks plans to release The Ring 2 on Nov. 10.

Weekend in Review
Wow. It's over already.
I got a lot of stuff done this weekend - more than I had actually anticipated, but, of course, less than I had hoped.
I am not sure what my brain is doing when it thinks that I can accomplish two full pages of tasks in 2 days, but whatever.
Anyway, got the house more or less cleaned, got all of my wash done, got musical kickdown done for my girlies, went to Steph's Party, went out with Esther and her friends, most of my resume is done, eBay stuff is located and photographed and in the computer, went to pick and pull and got new headlights and turn signal for my car (as well as a new dash plate so my rear heater button won't be ghetto anymore), read a bunch (almost done with American Gods), etc....
I feel accompished, but like I still have a very busy month ahead between everything that is left and then moving.
At least pick and pull is making my $1600 from the car accident go far! I will probably only spend like $200 to fix everything and the rest will cover new deposit, moving expenses, first 1/2 month rent, etc... YAY!
OK, off to post to eBay and then to read my project management book. I now get homework from work. This really sucks. Oh well, more incentive to accomplish Mission 2 and move to Mission 3! :-)
Happy Sunday folks!

Update: Procrastination
OK, I think that I am at a point where my very rough draft is done. I think I will leave it alone for a while today and come back to it for some touch ups either later today or tomorrow and then send it out to some people for comments and assistance.

It's amazing the amount of stuff I do and the amount of things that I will be able to do if I get the chance.
Procrastination is my friend... He can be your friend too...
Yeah, somehow cleaning started to become more appealing to me than writing my resume.
I have a metal block about it right now. Possibly because I feel like I have to do it, possibly for other reasons.
It started when I thought that I might post it up here for you all to look at and comment on. Then, I suddenly got very nervous about that. I couldn't really see why for quite a while. Then, it occurred to me that resumes are really all about puffing yourself up and listing all of your accomplishments and that is horribly embarrassing to me, especially when you all know the truth about where I work and what I have to do.
It's very difficult to write a resume stating that you are proactive, when everything that you have done for the past 3.5 years has been reactionary, thanks to your environment.
I fear that I have to suck it up and make it happen, but it's still much more of a painful process than I had anticipated.
Those of you out there who have jobs that you love and don't want to leave right now, take my advice: go update your resume every now and then... It will make it a lot easier when you need to do it.

The Crystal Method Show
Tickets for 3/4 at the Warfield are on sale at the

I'll be there and so will Carl and Esther if anyone else is interested.
I have secured a new hole
No, not a piercing.
I have found, looked at, paid a deposit on, and accepted the 3rd story shoebox that I am about to move into. $1085 a month for a 2 bedroom isn't bad. I just hope that my life fits in there. I suppose that if it doesn't, I will have to get rid of parts of it.
On the upside, I now have access to a hot tub or two, I am close to dear friends, I won't be getting a $233.55 electricity bill like I did this month, I now have my choice of TWO bathtubs to use, and hopefuly, that won't be on the verge of crashing through the ceiling, I now have a dishwasher that works, I won't have to worry about the state of the yard, and it will be MUCH quicker to clean.
Things I will miss: Huge dinners, mowing the yard, pumpkin parties, huge rooms, and, above all, my swing. I love my swing.
Anybody need a washer/dryer, a fridge, a twin sized bed, or a movable dishwasher?
Move date: The weekend of Feb 14th (Happy Valentine's to me!) and I have until the 29th to move out of my beloved huge house.
Anyway, Mission 1 is complete. Moving on to Mission 2 and 3 this weekend....

Wired News: Mars Mission a Trojan Horse?
Give some credit to Bush: In stoking interest in a mission to Mars (which may or may not happen), his administration may have figured out a clever way to kill the space shuttle and other costly projects, space experts say.
President Bush's plan to go to the moon and to Mars without much additional funding will force NASA and Congress to make hard choices -- particularly regarding the space shuttle and the hugely expensive International Space Station, observers said.
The Bush plan increases NASA's budget by just $1 billion over the next five years. That means the space agency has to figure out how to carry out the mission -- first a return to the moon and later a trip to Mars -- without a lot of additional money in its budget. [

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! Dumb Germans
Drug Smuggler Rumbled by Call of Nature
BERLIN (Reuters) - The untimely bowel movements of a man arrested with marijuana at an airport yielded German crime fighters an unexpected haul of 54 condoms containing cocaine, authorities said on Thursday.
"It's pretty silly to get caught carrying hard drugs because you've got a tiny amount of marijuana on you," said a spokeswoman for prison authorities in Berlin.
After police discovered the two grams of marijuana, a check revealed an outstanding international arrest warrant for the 51-year-old man for drug-related offences.
But they were unaware he was carrying a kilogram of cocaine, estimated at 120,000 euros ($152,400).
"The man had the condoms in his stomach and after a certain period of time his bowels passed them out again. I don't know why he didn't flush them down the toilet, perhaps he needed to keep them," the spokeswoman said.
The man hid the excreted condoms in his clothes, where prison authorities later found them.

Making Dreams to Order
TOKYO (Reuters) - The Japanese company that came up with the hit "BowLingual" device that translates dogs' barks into human words has now come up with a dream product -- literally.
Takara Co Ltd says its Yumemi Kobo, or "dream workshop," gadget gives stressed out people a chance to go on a holiday or find their ideal partner -- at least in their dreams.
Before nodding off, the would-be dreamer is supposed to look at a photo of what he or she wants to dream about and then record the story-line on the $140 machine.
Using the voice recording as well as lights, music and aromas, the machine stimulates sleepers during periods of rapid eye movement (REM) sleep and helps them direct their own dreams, the company says.
After eight hours, it wakes them up gradually with music and lights that simulate sunlight, avoiding any shock that could destroy fragile memories.
The manufacturers caution, though, that not all users of the gadget achieve exactly the dreams they hope for.
"We are still experimenting, mainly with company employees," Kenji Hattori, a Takara marketing executive, told reporters on Wednesday.
"Some said the theme was right, but the story-line was wrong. Some said the noise woke them up. But it has worked for quite a number of people," he said.

Burton Raises Corpse
Director Tim Burton told USA Today that his upcoming stop-motion animated film The Corpse Bride, which he will produce, is in keeping with his desire to laugh at death instead of fearing it. "Rather than make it this dark, unspoken thing—which is kind of how I grew up—I always liked the idea that it was more a celebration," Burton told the newspaper. "It feels more positive, somehow, and more spiritual and right to me."
The Corpse Bride, made in the same animation style as The Nightmare Before Christmas, is based on an Eastern European folk tale about a man who mistakenly weds a dead body, the newspaper reported.
I am so spoiled
So, I went to look at an apartment at Esther's complex today. It was actually one with the most square footage I have seen in a while. Needless to say, I thought about all of my stuff, and I thought about my house, and I thought about this tiny little hole I was about to crawl into and I was kind of horrified.
I guess an extra $400 a month and higher utilities gets you a lot...
I am just going to have to suck it up and squish in there. I can guarantee that there will be no more 15 person dinners and no more pumpkin party, which is sad, but necessary for now.

What you can't say
So this dude, Paul Graham, wrote this essay on how we think that we are so open and accessible, but we have just as much social convention about things that are considered taboo to say as we did in any other time period. Also talks about the people who have the ideas that get them the most in trouble are usually the ones that are true (Galileo), so you should keep an eye out for those people...
Very neat article.
My favorite line so far:
Nerds are always getting in trouble. They say improper things for the same reason they dress unfashionably and have good ideas: convention has less hold over them.

Whedon: X-Men Gig Possible
Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon confirmed to SCI FI Wire that he is indeed considering writing a series of X-Men comics for Marvel. "There is a rumor out there," Whedon said in an interview at the television critics' winter press tour in Hollywood. "It's something that could happen."
Whedon added that he would approach such a project with trepidation, knowing the "legacy" of the decades-old franchise and fervid fan loyalty.
But it wouldn't be Whedon's first foray into comics—he previously wrote the Buffy-related Fray series for Dark Horse—nor would it mark Whedon's first dealings with the venerable X-Men universe. Whedon wrote a draft of a screenplay for the first X-Men movie, which wasn't used. "It was brilliant," Whedon said, with tongue in cheek.

Ferrell Up For Bewitched
Douglas Wick, producer of the upcoming Bewitched film, confirmed to SCI FI Wire that Will Ferrell (Elf) is in the running for the role of Darrin. "We can't say that he's not doing it," Wick said in an interview. Ferrell would take on the role originally played by Dick York and later by Dick Sargent in the popular 1960s fantasy TV series.
The movie will tell the story of how suburban witch Samantha (Nicole Kidman in the role originated by Elizabeth Montgomery) meets her future husband. The movie will feature characters from the TV series, including Endora (originally played by Agnes Moorehead), Wick added. "[And] there's an Uncle Arthur [and] Aunt Clara," he said. [more]
Hitchhiker Stars Set
British actors Bill Nighy (Love Actually) and Martin Freeman (TV's The Office) are set to star in the feature-film version of Douglas Adams' SF cult novel The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the BBCi Films Web site reported. Freeman will play Arthur Dent, the everyday Earthling thrust into an interplanetary adventure, the site added. (Fangoria, meanwhile, reported that Warwick Davis will also appear.)
"I'm a big fan of the book, and the people who are making it are very cool people, and I think they're going to do a good job," Nighy told the site. "It's a really good script. It's really, really faithful [to the book]. All the jokes are there, and they're big fat jokes. It's wonderful. And with all the technology we have now, it can not only be a big satisfying comedy, but I figure it could be quite exciting as well." [source]

Woman Causes Parking Garage Chaos
BERLIN (Reuters) - A German woman caused more than 100,000 euros ($128,300) of damage when an attempt to back out of her spot in a parking garage ended with her car on its roof and four other vehicles damaged, police said Monday.
Police said the woman reversed sharply out of her spot on the upper level of a multi-story parking in the southwestern town of Kirchen, writing off a parked Nissan and damaging a Mitsubishi next to it, police said.
She then accelerated forward, speeding through her original parking place and over a low protective wall -- pitching her Audi some six meters (20 feet) down on to a lower level of the car park.
The car crashed on to a Renault, hit a Citroen and finally came to rest on its roof.
Police said the woman was treated in hospital but that her injuries were not life-threatening. "A blood test was taken after suspicions she was under medication," a spokesman said.
BERLIN (Reuters) - German police are investigating after an angry man returned a computer he had just bought saying it was packed with small potatoes instead of computer parts.
The store replaced the computer free of charge but became suspicious when he returned a short time later with another potato-filled computer casing, police in the western city of Kaiserslautern said Monday.
"The second time he said he didn't need a computer any more and asked for his money back in cash," a police spokesman said.
Police are now investigating the man for fraud.

TGIF
Wow, this week was manic! Got a whole bunch of stuff cleaned up, selling stuff for bank on eBay, almost lost my job, lost someone dear to me, had a really good party, lots of fantastic food, watched a bunch of Next Gen season 1, picked up Bab 5 season 4, and am shortly off to go skiing.
Me thinks the winds of change are a blowin' - here's hoping they blow me to calmer waters soon.
;-)
IM Dilly-yo

Lyrics: Aerosmith - Pink
Pink - it's my new obsession
Pink - it's not even a question,
Pink - on the lips of your lover
(oh)
'Cause Pink is the love you discover
Pink - as the bing on your cherry
Pink - 'cause you are so very
Pink - it's the color of passion
Ah, 'cause today it just goes with the fashion
Pink - it was love at first sight
Yeah, Pink - when I turn out the light
And Pink gets me high as a kite
And I think everything is going to be all right
No matter what we do tonight
You could be my flamingo
'Cause pink - it's the new kinda of lingo
Pink - like a deco umbrella
It's kink that you don't ever tell her
Pink - it was love at first sight
And Pink when I turn out the light
Pink gets me high as a kite
And I think everything is going to be all right
No matter what we do tonight
Yeah!
I want to be your lover
I, I wanna wrap you in rubber
And it's pink as the sheets that we lay on
'Cause Pink - it's my favorite crayon
Yeah!
Pink - it was love at first sight
Pink - when I turn out the light
Pink - it's like red but not quite
And I think, everything is going to be all right
No matter what we do tonight

Police Foil Bank Robbery by Drunk 'Dracula'
BERLIN (Reuters) - German police said Thursday they had arrested a would-be vampire robber ready to scare bank staff with his false Dracula teeth.
The man, also wearing a woolen hat and sunglasses, pulled out what looked like a gun and pointed it at passing police officers who had asked him to stop as he approached a bank.
"The two officers managed to overpower him and found it was a toy weapon," police in the northern city of Bremen said in a statement. "The suspect lost his plastic teeth in the scuffle. He was extremely drunk."

1984 Commercial
Apple replayed their original 1984 commercial at the MacWorld keynote the other day. It's viewable
here in Quicktime format. It has, however, been subtly changed. Note what the heroine has on her belt, which is a little anachronistic. ;-) Ah, for the days of the hexachrome Apple.
Earthsea Gets Green Light
SCI FI Channel announced that it has given a green light to the original miniseries Ursula K. Le Guin's Earthsea, which is set to begin production in New Zealand this spring. Adapted from Le Guin's popular book series, the four-hour Earthsea miniseries is written by Gavin Scott (The Mists of Avalon), with Robert Halmi Sr. (Dreamkeeper, Merlin), Lawrence Bender (Kill Bill) and Kevin Brown (Roswell) executive producing. Earthsea is slated to debut on SCI FI in December.
An adaptation of the first two books in Le Guin's trilogy, A Wizard of Earthsea and The Tombs of Atuan, the Earthsea miniseries tells the story of a reckless youth destined to become the greatest sorcerer in the mystical land of Earthsea. On his journey to manhood, he will combat dragons, fall in love, cross death's threshold and ultimately wield the power to reunite a kingdom, SCI FI said.
RE: Ch ch ch changes. . .
Good to hear you still have a job. Had a horrible dream about you last night in which you were terribly distraught and then dissappeared. . . so I was freakin' out a little.
Re: ch-ch-changes
Yes, I still have a job. It's hanging by a single thread right now, but I do have one. Any leads on possible new opportunities would be appreciated...
More later, when I am not at work.
Cable television turns some people into couch potatoes. It might turn Timothy Dumouchel into a litigant. The Wisconsin man is threatening to sue Charter Communications for $5,000 and free Internet service for life, saying his addiction to free cable TV soured his existence. "
I believe that the reason I smoke and drink every day and my wife is overweight is because we watched TV every day for the last four years," Dumouchel wrote in a complaint against the company. Dumouchel says he canceled his cable in 1999, but Charter failed to disconnect the service. A Charter spokesman defended the company's product. "Even though we consider our services to be a very powerful entertainment product, I don't think it's reached a medical level yet where it could be proved to be addictive," he said.

Rain: You are the sound of rain. You have two important sides. There is your strong, powerful side and your calm, gentle side. Both are very important. Rain also reflects a bit of darkness in your personality. It isn't bad, just shows that along with the good, you also can see bad which can come in handy.
You're taffy!! You're a clever and kind person, but you tend to hold grudges. You are not big on dishing out forgiveness.
ch-ch-changes
Not to alarm anyone, but tomorrow, when I get to work, I get to find out if I still have a job or not.
That should be fun.
One more: Which kind of candy are you?

You're bubblegum!!! You love to have a good time, and enjoy being around others who feel the same way. You tend to be the life of the party, and people like to be around you as much as they can.

Lyrics: Perfect Girl
So, I was listening to my shiny new Sarah McLaughlin CD and this song kind of struck me...
Perfect Girl
Am I faithful, am I strong,am I good enough to belong
in your reverie a perfect girl
Your vision of romance is cruel and all along I played the fool
all your expectations bury me
Chorus:
Don't worry you will find the answer if you let it go
give yourself some time to falter
But don't forgo knowing that you're loved no matter what
and everything will come around in time
I own my insecurities I try to own my destiny
That I can make or break it if I choose
But you take my words and twist them 'round
'till I'm the one who brings you down
Make me feel like I'm the one to blame for all of this...
Chorus:
Don't worry you will find the answer if you let it go
give yourself some time to falter
But don't forgo knowing that you're loved no matter what
and everything will come around in time
You need everybody with you on your side
Know that I am here for you but I hope in time
You'll find yourself alright alone
You'll find yourself with open arms
You'll find yourself you'll find yourself in time
The riot in my heart decides to keep me open and alive
I have to take myself away from you
'cause I can't compete I can't deny there's nothing that I didn't try
how did I go so wrong in loving you
Chorus:
Don't worry you will find the answer if you let it go
give yourself some time to falter
But don't forgo knowing that you're loved no matter what
and everything will come around in time
Bird-Lover's Cat Dines on Rare Flying Visitor
LONDON (Reuters) - A rare feathered visitor to Britain survived a grueling 15-hour journey from Norway, only to be eaten by a birdwatcher's cat on arrival.
The cat's owner wrote to a bird charity to report the unusual sight of a Norwegian robin in her garden in the north of England -- but she had to confess it was dead in her cat's mouth at the time.
The unlucky bird was one of only 30 Scandinavian robins known to have made the 400-mile flight to Britain since 1919.

Bush Grabs New Power for FBI
From a story at Wired News:
As the nation sat transfixed by Saddam Hussein's capture last month, President Bush quietly signed legislation granting the government new and sweeping surveillance powers.
The Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2004 grants the FBI unprecedented power to obtain records from financial institutions without requiring permission from a judge.
Under the law, the FBI does not need to seek a court order to access such records, nor does it need to prove just cause. [

Review: Big Fish
 | I saw Big Fish last night. It was really good. Totally odd movie for Tim Burton to do, but it's still very Tim Burton. George described it a an "old person's movie", which I can understand now. Anyway, go see it if you want a fun, but calm movie to watch. |

After stopping for drinks at an illegal bar, a Zimbabwean bus driver found that the 20 mental patients he was supposed to be transporting from Harare to beltway had escaped. He then delivered the passengers to the mental hospital, telling the staff that the patients were very excitable and prone to bizarre fantasies. The deception wasn't discovered for 3 days.

A thief burst into a Florida bank one day wearing a ski mask and carrying a gun. Aiming his gun at the guard, the thief yelled, "FREEZE, MOTHER-STICKERS, THIS IS A ****-UP!" For a moment, everyone was silent.
Then the snickers started. The security guard completely lost it and doubled over laughing. It probably saved his life, because he'd been about to draw his gun. He couldn't have drawn and fired before the thief got him. The thief ran away and is still at large. In memory of the event, the banker later put a plaque on the wall engraved with the words, "Freeze, mother-stickers, this is a ****-up!"

Seems an Arkansas guy wanted some beer pretty badly. He decided that he'd just throw a cinderblock through a liquor store window, grab some booze, and run. So he lifted the cinderblock and heaved it over his head at the window. The cinderblock bounced back and hit the would-be thief on the head, knocking him unconscious. The liquor store window was made of Plexiglas. The whole event was caught on videotape.
