Sad to see Jeff go
So, Jeff (they guy who also does my job) quit last week to take a really good opportunity. It's sad because he's a really good guy and a very cool co-worker (as well as a fountain of knowledge for how to do my job). So after tomrrow, I will be here alone. This is good because it means more chance of me being "employee Noelle" rather than "contractor Noelle", but it's still sucks to loose a cool co-worker...
That's about all I have to say about that (RUN FORREST!).

Cultured bone offers novel wedding rings
"It's for people who want to give a bit of their body to each other," says Nikki Stott, a jewellery designer at the Royal College of Art in London. She and her colleague Tobie Kerridge are collaborating with Ian Thomspon, a bioengineer at King's College London.
The tricky part is that the lucky couple will have to provide bone cell samples, for which the team will get ethical approval only if both people already need surgery. The most likely scenario is that both will need wisdom teeth pulling, Thompson says. [

THEY say “tomayto” and we say “tomarto”. And now a study has established that the Americans and British also have different smiles.
While we British smile by pulling our lips back and upwards and exposing our lower teeth, Americans are more likely simply to part their lips and stretch the corners of their mouths.
So distinct is the difference that the scientist behind the research was able last week to pick out Britons from Americans from close-cropped pictures of their smiles alone, with an accuracy of more than 90%. [

Midway to Turn Toons Into Games
Midway Games has signed a multiterritory agreement with Cartoon Network to publish video games based on five of the network's Adult Swim programs: "Aqua Teen Hunger Force," "The Brak Show," "Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law," "Sealab 2021" and "Space Ghost Coast to Coast."

Straczynski Ends Trek Campaign
A day after calling for a letter-writing campaign by fans who wanted to see his version of Star Trek produced, Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski posted a follow-up message to the same newsgroup retracting his statement. "[B]elay everything I just said," Straczynski wrote. "In the 24 hours between the time I composed the prior note, and sent it, and it made its way through the moderation software, two things happened."
The two things that changed Straczynski's mind were a tip from a trusted source at Paramount, which owns the rights to the Star Trek franchise, that the studio is "giving the Trek TV world a rest" for a year or two, and an offer to run a series premiering in the fall of 2006, which Straczynski has accepted. In Straczynski's words, the Trek campaign is now "kind of moot."
The writer/producer apologized to fans and assured them that he hasn't abandoned the project completely. "We can reconvene a year or two down the road to see where this takes us," he said. "But in the interim ... my apologies for waking everybody up in the middle of the night."
Midway Jumps Into Adult Swim
Video-game publisher Midway and Cartoon Network have joined forces to develop future games based on the network's Adult Swim programming block, the IGN Web site reported. The deal includes popular animated series such as Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law, Sealab 2021, Space Ghost Coast to Coast and The Brak Show.
In a statement, executives from both companies said they felt the mature, cutting-edge humor of the late-night lineup was well suited to the video-game format. The first Adult Swim game is due in late 2006.

Bruce Campbell not in EVIL DEAD remake
In an exclusive interview with CINESCAPE, director Sam Raimi revealed what's in store with the EVIL DEAD remake he'll be producing.
"We want to find a director who will make the film his or her own, with a fresh take on the material," says Raimi. "I will be as involved as the new director wants me to be, but I don't want be looking over anyone's shoulder. I want the director of the remake to have the same freedom I had when I was shooting the original."
As for whether or not Bruce Campbell will appear in the movie (he will actually produce), Raimi reveals that our favorite chainsaw wielding actor will only be involved as a producer but don't rule out a future on screen reunion. [

Researchers on the quest for a more complete understanding of our universe are finding that black holes are not so black, and perhaps not holes either. Furious debates are raging over what black holes contain and even whether they deserve the name. [
