So my cousin, Aaron, is an artist and he made this video out of pictures he took while in the process of drawing.

I am finally getting back to normal after the wedding/honeymoon/party/need to sleep for 9 years. I am mostly really busy around the house or doing nothing at all, which is kind of nice, although when I do that, I mostly just end up feeling guilty. I am mostly trying to get the house back to normal after totally destroying it with this party thing.

I have started to look for a job, although not really crazily.

Yesterday was the anniversary of the fire and the death of my kitties. I spent most of that in bed, generally wallowing, which is nice to do sometimes. Today I sit here pondering why the kitties I have now keep trying to kill themselves by eating plastic bags?

I am married now. Nope, doesn't feel much different, except when Chris tells waiters that "my wife would like a glass of water please." That's kind of a strange moment every time.

ummmmmmmmmmmm, other than that, I am planning parties for people, and generally doing birthday stuff with people and having lunch around town with people who seem interested. If you are interested, ping me.

I am very much enjoying being unemployed. Money seems ok right now and I am trying to not spend every single day breaking ass like I did last time. I may regret that later when my garage is still a mess, but I'll deal with that psychodrama when I get to it.

Anyway, I am not bored yet, don't miss human contact as I have it all day, like sleeping in and generally love getting stuff done here that I want to be working on and not taking orders from some jerk who is making bad business decisions.

I am going to try and update more. I have not even looked at my feeds for a month or 2; I have like 5,000 articles to look at, so I expect a deluge as I try and get through those.

We're on our way home tomorrow and will land in SF like 2 hours after we take off, somehow. I am thrilled to be comming home. I have had a wonderful time, but i'd rather be whistling in the dark. (Sorry, got sidetracked.) I miss the good old USA, my pals, my kitties, and tv in English that is not BBC world news.

Oh and good news kids! A breif survey of people here says that they do not hate Americans and they feel badly for us for having to put up with Bush for 8 years. They do not seem to blame us and know that we got taken for a ride on that one too! Yay! I did appologize to everyone I met about the last 8 years, and they are all very happy that Obama seems to at least be a decent human being.

Not that all the other places we have stayed were not awesome, but the W is a crazy badass overly-hip place to stay and I am so glad that we are here! I was tired and sick of Greece in a way and I get here to basically a virgin America plane but more so and on the ground.

This place is rediculous, the food is fab and the bed is positively devine. After somewhat uncomfortable beds fir the last 2 weeks, I want to melt in and die in this one. If you ever get a chance to stay at a W hotel (it's owned by starwood, who own westin and sheriton, etc) DO IT. It's the coolest hotel I have ever seen! The whole place eminates really awesome music, it smells spectacular, and the service staff is totally on point. Can't recommend it enough.

Yeah, that looks really cool! Does it go around a Mac? :-)

We have been to the parthenon, the temple of Olypic Zeus, hadrion's gate, the agora, and all over the flea markets and small shops in the area. Honestly, I am kind of old-stuffed out. I got to the point in hour 4 at the archeology museum where I just could not look at another broken off marble penis and I sat down while Chris troopered on. Anyway, I am happy to be comming home in 2 days. I miss my bed and my kitties and I would like to have a meal that is not $100. I am all vacationed out, but I have had a spectacular time and am very glad that I came. I hope everyone has had a good couple of weeeks and I look forward to seeing you all soon! N

Made it to Athens! The hotel is nice and the city is sprawling and beautiful. We must have showed up at exactly the right time because the weather is spectacular and the city spells like floral perfume everywhere. The line their streets in non-fruiting fruit trees that give off a delicious smell!

Edited a couple days later: so we are getting ready to leave tomorrow! We don't have access to wifi except for paid wifi so we decided to wait until now to get on.

We have seen a huge chunk of the stuff here and at the same time, nothing at all. The city is both totally bratiful and grubby and covered in graffiti. It's quite amazing.

Today, we went to the archeological museum, and I got my wallet pockpocketed. I have canceled all my cards but they made off with about $200 and a barnes and noble gift card :-(.

Wall-E case mod

Santorini was rad, but it's *so* totaly yesterday! We're blowing this volcano in like 12 hours and heading toward the cradel of democracy and Western thought: Athens. The Athenian lady we met today made a chufing noise when we told here where we are staying in Athens and asked if it was a good hotel. She shook her head and said "It is not good. It is the best of the best. It is in the middle of everything." So, I guess we have an awesome 4 days ahead of us. The cave house is awesome, but the beds are hard, and I am a spoiled brat, so I am looking forward to some luxury in the bed-al region again.

Anyway, Santorini is awesome - I cannot recommend it enough and it appears that we came at exactly the right time because a huge boatload fo tourists showed up today and now it is crowded and Americans are acting like idiots and/or assholes all around me. I keep appologizing for them after they leave places. The shop owners seem to get that we are not all like that, but I am glad that we came when no one was here.

I have no idea if I will have internet in the next week or so, so if not, I'll check ya all when I get back. If so, I'll report back in tomorrow!

Skordalia, pits, tapenade, fresh baked bread and wine, oh my!

So there's like 2 places in our town that are not Greek/Italian food.
There's Senor Zorba (no, I am not kidding) and China. We decided that
some fried rice sounded yummers so we stopped in. This is what I found
in the back of my menu. Gotta love it.

Storms have set in above Santorini! We have been all over the island, which is not hard, given that it is only 11 miles long, and have been to pretty much every town here as well. So, we are going to hole up in Fira today and maybe go walk around this town some more. It's still winter season here so a lot of stuff is not open, but I feel like we have the island to ourselves which is nice - I cannot even imagine this place swarming with teenagers and music thumping all night. I think that would be awesome for about 3 hours and then I would be over it. :-) As is, we can walk into any resteraunt, get good deals on stuff and only relaly have to deal with a little rain, which frankly, is kind of nice. It gets volcanically hot here in the summer. (HA! I am so funny! It's a volcano. Get it?)

Anyway, we have 3 days here left and I have no idea what to do with myself. I am not good at sitting around. I guess I will practice.

For those of you not there, Jon has posted what he said as our officient on his blog, here, along with a picture of all of us. I was reading along with him on his paper, which is why I was looking down, because I was trying not to cry *all the way through* the ceremony and th eonly way I could think of accomplishing that was to busy my mind with something else. Lo and behold, as soon as I stopped reading along, I started crying and pretty much did for the rest of the way through. I was just really happy that I got all the way through my vows without choking up so badly that I could no longer read.

Anyway, what Jon said was awesome and after being at a bunch of weddings that sound more like a funeral, I could not have asked for a better officiency.

This is the othher view off of the roof patio. It's cloudy today and may even rain while we are here, but I am cool with that as it may clear out some of the moisture in the air and make for clearer pictures. In person though, it's amazing!

I am a mastermind and somehow got the phones to work so I ran upstairs

So, we get this place, (with a laptop!) that has wireless, except it seems to only work with the laptop - which is strange. Our phones cannot find the network at all, which means that I cannot post pictures of what it looks like here, but it's pretty much exactly like this:



In fact, if I could get out photoshop, I could slap a little arrow on this photo and show you where I am right now.

I want to go outside and run around and look at stuff but I am locked in the house right now and have no idea where my new husband parked the keys and *someone* is asleep still, so I will sit patiently and soak in the warming glow of the glowing warmth of the internet. It's pretty amazing how relieved I am when I hear the word "wireless". I mean, I can totaly live without it if I have to, but I admit my solid addiction to it.

Oh and greek keyboards are really strange. They have both greek and English letters on them but they do not corespond. Also all of the symbols are in different places, but when I type on English sites, I see the normal things I would if I pressed that key. For example, where the " key is (I just pressed the normal buttons to get that), I see the symbols for ' and @. The 2 key, which nomally has the @ symbol on it has the " symbol, but i just go on typing like normal and it works out ok as long as I am dealing with US sites. At least I don;t have to sit there and figure out where they moved suff - I am cool as long as I do not look at my keyboard.

Ok, I have wandered into babbling. I'm gonna go on a mad key hunt. Peace out.

YAY!! We made it to Santorini with a couple bumps on the road, but we made it. Our plane was delayed about an hour and when we got here, no one had any idea where we were staying because it turns out that it is a house, not a hotel, and it is amazing. It is not accessable by car, which is why they had no idea, so we had to hoof it over the hill and down a bunch of steps, but it is well worth the hike, even with luggage. Turns out that the reason that we did not get on a plane yesterday was because all the airlines and boats in Greece went on strike - we are being told that it was about the G20 summit and the current economic conditions, blah blah blah.

Anyway, we basically have a 3 bedroom villa. It as a Jaccuzi that could easily seat like 6 people in one of the rooms, and sunken tiled tub in another and a Spa on the roof. If you'd like to see some pictures - you can find them on this site. It really does look like this. If we had 6 of us, coming here would be super awesome sometime and everyone would have a bed for sure - I think they can even add more if we need them to - and I don't think it would be very expensive. I can't belive that we have 3 full beds and 2 couch beds to choose from. It's rediculous.

Santorini is all that it looks like it should be. White walled houses on the cliffs overlooking a volcano cauldera. It's pretty hazy out, but still amazing. What is also amazing is that I just paid like $25 for suntan lotion. Some stuff here is really cheap, and some is *really* expensive.

We are going to take a boat to the cauldera and to sit in some mud in the hot springs in a couple days and also rent a car for a couple days and drive around to the other little towns and beaches on the island.

So that's that - I will report back in with any updates as I have them. For now, I am going to go up on the roof and chill and watch the sunset. I hope you guys are having a good week.

Oh, also, I am so relieved that I have a laptop. *whew*

Which is really awesome. They have all sorts of treasures, all of
which are listed in the brochures except a room full of stuff they
never tell you about. So I cruise in to see more shiney stuff and I
am presented with what they are claiming to be Moses's stick and John
the Baptist's hand.

You read me right. His hand. Guilded. In some sort of arm and hand
cover. But you can see the bones and whatnot in there. They talk
about all the beautiful tiles for like hours and then "oh yeah,
there's John the Baptist's hand as well." Wtf???

They also appear to have his skull cap as well if you are ever in the
market to see that. :-?

Anyway, long day looking at old shit, including a her cool Herem,
which ended in our third attept at the Isranbul taxi scam, which
actually worked on us the first time. (They switch out the money you
give them fir smaller bills and imply that you made a mistake - being
anti- confrontational Americans, people usually end up more than
double paying on this one. LAME.). We did not fall for it the last
coople times though so we're all good.

Anyway, I am sore and tired so we're headed back upstairs for a bath
and then to get ready for Santorini tomorrow. I'll post while there
if I have time and access!

Ok, so we're just checking email before heading to Topkapi Palace and
possibly the archeological museum for the day.

Oh, and for those of you who have always wondered: Yes, the Ritz is
totally worth the price. You are enveloped In a warm safe caccoon of
awesomeness and safety while you are here. Everything us outstanding;
from the service down to the paper they use to write stuff down for
you, everything is top notch. When in strange lands that you are
nervous about, this place is well worth the money.

Oh, also, Istanbul is pretty rad. Everyone speaks at least some
English and people are largely helpful if you get stuck on something.
It's not super expensive and the weather is pretty much like
California. Highly recommended for a visit!

So looks like Yahoo travel did it to me again. The flights to santorini were effectively cancelled at the last minute and they don't have any flights until Friday now. (This is twice now that Yahoo travel has sold us unconfirmed flights and the cancelled them at the last minute).

So, we are effectively snowed in in Istanbul for an additional day. Aside from the extra whatever it's going to cost to add a day at the Ritz-Carlton, I'm not that broken up about it. We could use more time here anyway, but Chris is bummed and Santorini looks like rain right when we get there so he's kind of sad about it all.

I keep trying to explain that it is our honeymoon and we aren't suppsed to do anything that is not an indoor sport anyway. :-)
